Cops Hunt For Grave Robbing Flower Thieves In Oshawa
Friday November 24, 2006
It isn't a crime like stealing your wallet or boosting your car and it will never be equated with murder. But the spree two women in Oshawa are believed to be involved in definitely ranks with the lowest of all criminal acts.
Durham Police suspect the pair are sneaking into cemeteries and stealing flowers off graves. And they may be reselling them for a profit.
The disturbing incident happened last Thursday at the Union Cemetery on King St. W., when a grieving woman and her father were visiting their late mother's burial plot.
They spotted two women standing around a van filled with flowers, leading them to believe they were simply delivery people dropping some of their inventory off at other sites.
But when they went over to talk to them, the pair quickly rushed to their vehicle, turned the key and sped off out of the grounds.
It wasn't long before authorities figured out what they'd been up to.
They discovered the flowers had come from three different graves - including one that was only a day old.
Cops are looking for two women in their 50s, described as being white and heavy set. They were both dressed in tracksuits and driving a green van.
They seemed to be especially targeting the more expensive bouquets, like roses and lilies.

What the hell man? That's such a low thing to do. I hope they catch these bastards.
