Driving to the Yukon

I'm wondering if anyone has ever done this?

My boyfriend and I are thinking about driving up to the Yukon around the end of December and wanted to know what the drive was like (besides harsh and snowy)... and any good places to stop and see along the way... hotels and such....

Thoughts?

Suggestions?

Thanks!

errr no thanks. I'd like to go up there, but definitely only in July or August. I went off the road on the Coquihalla a few days before Christmas a couple years back. Not a fun time at all. (brrrr!) It sure made me appreciate the warm hotel room when we finally got to it, though.

Be sure to pack chains, flashlights, bottled water, lots of warm blankets, road flares, kitty litter and food, ok?

i believe the alaska highway is closed for the winter, or at least part of it is.
i could ask my mom, she's from whitehorse.

i do know the drive is long and tough during the summer. i think it takes 3 days.
don't go during the winter.
really.

Definitely a Summer/Spring thing to do. Especially the Yukon. I lived in the NWT for a time when I was younger.

Biggest hint and most useful solution ever: Embalm yourself before you hit the Northern Cariboo or the Mosquitoes will do it for you. a.k.a. Get the most powerful Bug Spray that you can and cover exposed flesh when out in the Woods. I've got a Bottle of Insect Repellent that's 66.7% DEET and it says not to be applied to skin or synthetic fabric. NOW THAT'S SOME GOOD SHIT!
