NHL 2007 All Star Game

Does anyone know why the NHL All Star game is held on a WED this yr? Hasn't it always been a event on a Fri/Sat?

I'm curious to why this yr it's on a weekday.

i wondered this too.

my quess is they are gona get good T.V ratings on the weekend if its the all star game or not, so they might be trying to jack up one of the deader game slots by doing this.

It was going to be on the weekend but once Rory didn't get voted in all interest stopped and the NHL shifted it to an hour after "7th heaven" on the W5 network.

for some reason i remember watching the all star game on a wednesday before

There has been but its rare. Usually its the all star weekend.

I think.

A: They don't want the all star game to take away from the superbowl though its not even gonna be in dallas.

B: Bettman wants more attendance throughout the league. Instead of fans only being at the all star game over the weekend.

Think about this have nhl teams play tuesday,weds and thursday = less attendance. Have the NHL teams play on fri,sat and sunday = more attendance/ticket sales = $$$

We all know bettman is a business man.

Reason they were not on a weekend is because they didnt want to compete with the superbowl. Yes the superbowl isnt for another 2 weeks but even the hype around it prior to it is bigger then the NHL All Star. NFL is just insane compared to NHL. Thus the reason for the weekday timeslot

Thats what i figured, but I also believe bettman is also trying to make a little more money by having weekend games.

Where in canada weekdays games will be sellouts. The states aren't like that, but weekend games will get sellouts
