Buying a notebook...
Okay so I am looking at buying a laptop.....I am thinking about getting a mac book but I have been a PC user for a long time so I am a little torn on switching over. I just found out that I get a discount through work...but I get a discount on most computers... so suggestions would be amazing!

yeah this is what I am looking at now.
15-inch Mac Book Pro: 2.16GHz Intel Core 2 Duo 2GB 667 DDR2 SDRAM - 2x1GB 160GB Serial ATA Drive @ 5400 rpm SuperDrive 6x (DVD+R DL/DVD±RW/CD-RW) MacBook Pro 15-inch Widescreen Display Backlit Keyboard/Mac OS - U.S. English Accessory Kit I was talking to a guy at work that was a die hard mac user and he said that buying a Mac is more expensive to start about but if you factor in the money that you will spend over the years in anti virus protection and the units reliability a mac is actually about half the price in the end.... i was just asking. im not pro pc, i find myself kind of stuck in between.
if you can't pinpoint the advantages of what a mac would do for you over a pc, then what's the point of spending more money on it? Last edited by FeelGood; Feb 13, 07 at 05:27 PM. |

i've heard the same. i know for audio/video editing it certainly has it's advantages over the pc, but for picture editing im not quite sure. borrow someone's for the weekend or play around with one for a few hours and see what you think. |

the 15" mac book pro in the config u want is ~$2400 + tax.
forget about it! it's way overpriced. aside from gaming, most comp users are web concentric, email, browser, msn, etc... apple or pc it works the same. photo/video editin is a function of the software ur usin. it's not a function of osx or vista. is photoshop for apple better than photoshop for pc? i don't think so. there's no hardware reliability difference btw a mac book and a brand name pc laptop. it's a myth proagated by pro-apple ppl. apple does not make hardware. they rely on the same far east manufacturers as dell, hp, etc. a quick search will tell u that mac books are made by taiwan-based quanta and asus. now google "mac book motherboard failures" http://appledefects.com/wiki/index.p...le=MacBook_Pro they have problems just like everyone else. my suggestion, get a pc lappy same spec as the mac book pro and w/ the money u saved buy a nice 22"+ lcd (u can run both screens together) cuz 15" alone is kinda small for pix/video editin. . |
