I think she's a believable actress, but basically only knows how to play one note. Not very versatile. she's definitely no meryl streep!! |

He picks his roles well, he plays his roles well. Being a great actor is as much about picking parts suitable to you as it is your actual ability. I think he's got a more genuine vibe in his acting than most of today's hacks.

the job of the actor is to convince an audience that he/she is that character, going through that particular story. Nicholas Cage does this extremely well in all of his films, he's an excellent actor. not to mention what tiedye said, choosing alot of great roles helps! |

Are you guys effing kidding me? Some of the choices in this thread made me vomit in my mouth a little.
Jessica Simpson? I'm going to pretend that was a sarcastic comment because she is TERRIBLE. I think acting/theatre school taught me a thing or two about this topic and I think there's a general misconception here, a great actor is versatile and can adapt to any role. It's not about choosing suitable roles it's about taking on challenging projects and being able to react in the characters shoes. That is ultimately the test of a great actor/actress - Meryl Streep is a terrific example of this, her roles are so diverse and differ immensely. I hate actors who constantly take on the same role and have no range in their projects. Oh and FYI 'the devil wears prada' doesn't do Meryl Streep justice, if you want to see her acting at its finest go rent 'the bridges of madison county.' |
