Alain coach of the year?

After tonights win vs Anaheim... This proves that the Canucks are one of the teams in the Western Conference to be reckoned with!!! I know most of y'all know that Roberto Luongo will most likely be added to the names for a hart trophy candidate but who here belives that Alain did a hell of a job and he deserves at least a coach of the year mentioning?

Your thoughts plz?

Yeah he has definitely turned the canucks around into a more defensive orientated bunch, I give him props. He seems like a players coach, pretty positive n' what not.

Although lots of the credit goes to Luongo I'd say, think about how many stellar saves that guy makes every game that give us a chance to win. If we still had Bauld or Cloutier, even with Alain, we probably wouldn't make the playoffs IMO.

I don't know how well the Canucks would be doing. If Nonis had not picked up luongo for bert though.

True the canucks are first in their devision and could possibly even move up tog et first in the western conference but they just aren't dominating like the teams that the coach of the year award usually goes to.

They also usually go to team thats go from bottom dwellers to contenders. Even though the Canucks last year didn't make the playoff's. They were suppose to, and weren't considered a bottom feeding team.

but he may get some nominations, could be like when bure won the calder, and quinn got the jack adams, and mclean also was the finalist for the vezina.

I think this is a realistic question. for starters I didn't think the Canucks would be anything more than a 8th-10th place team this year. I thought with luck they could make the playoffs and the first 20 games of the year they made me look smart. however after that they started to show that an under talented bunch who followed their coaches system and road a hot goalie could succeed. I don't credit their success solely to Alain as I think Nonis did a great job in the off season. The only thing he could have done better in my eyes is some how get rid of Naslund and resign Jovanovski.

Anyway go Canucks!

They always seem to play better against the better teams, ana, nash, dallas, etc.. I think they have a pretty good shot at making it fairly far in the playoffs if they keep playing like they are now.

In partnership with Dave No-nuts!

Honestly I think the Canucks recent fortune has a lot more to do with their goal tending than their coach. I'm def. not trying to knock Alain mind you... I think he's done well in his role. I'm just not sure if he's done well enough to win coach of the year. I agree with some of the others that his name will most likely be tossed around but I don't see him winning it.

I would way rather take Naslund over Jovo ANYDAY. Especially now with Naslund getting his form back. Hello look at the linemates he is playign with two third liners.

Its almost a waste of naslunds talent. Especially with how well he is skating, passing and shooting now. His all around game has gone up big time. Hopefully Nonis picks up someone to be his linemate.

Naslund has been having to play with everyone player on everyline. How tough is that. Try it yourself and see how well you would play.

back to the topic. I agree for the most part with what brdr just stated. He deserves nominations, but really to be a jack adams finalist. You gotta really dominate, or go from nothing to top contender.

Naslund has lots to offer as an offensive player but contributes little in terms of leadership. Jovanovski has lots to contribute as a player but was also someone on the team that the offered leadership in spades. As a side note no European captain has ever won a cup.

^ Not yet but there will be mark my words.

Its just a matter of time.

I'll take Naslund over Jovo anywhere, anytime.

Seriously were you willing to pay Jovo the salary he is making in phoenix. The ridiculous salary. Naslund is in his best form or at least 80% and where is jovo.

he was good for abotu 2 weeks and than thats it
