God dammit....
Alright this is no bullshit what I am about to tell you. Just came back from the co-op development the building next door since I heard cops screaming "HANDS BEHIND YOUR BACK NOW".... So I run down stairs and check this out... about 9 cop cars all over the place 2 cops with these commando style automatic rifles and a whole bunch of kids all over the place... Anyways turns out some meth head when up to some 16-17 year old kid asked the kid if he had a smoke he can spare. Kid said no.... This guy punches the kid in the face a few times and mugs him... steals 20 dollars.. This all happened in front of his friend... so the guy takes off about 75 yards down the road... the kid ran into his place to get some bear spray.... Anyways the same meth head that just punched this kid in the face then go's up to some poor random lady and literally held her hostage with a knife at her through... She gets away and the kid with the bear spray sprays the guy down.... Now this guy is wading a knife wildy and starts chasing after this kid back into the co-op complex where while running dropped the knife because the cops were right around the corner since they were called about the first incident... they capture the guy and all Pure crazies out there.... and the most fucked up thing is that these were random people that ended up being victimized... |

i grew up in chilliwack and charles ave amoung most of the old downtown has been dodgey for years.
-grow ops ~ duh its the fraser valley -methlabs ~ they're every where. I remember last year there was a lab taken down in Hope BC and it made the news. " if it's in hope it's every where..." uh huh - is it safer and cheaper to raise a family in valley compared to Vancouver. ~ yes it's cheaper realestate than vancouver, but it's not safer than any other canadian city. |

Yeah the old downtown Chilli core is a bit dicey at night but that's what happens everywhere, most places have a seedy area. There is Chilliwack north of the highway that has older housing (20+ years) but is generally safe, it has an area near downtown with druggies. Even so I often go to a coffee place there. Last year the most exciting things that happened were we saw this poor old native guy shooting up something in the parking lot, and another time a hooker came in the coffee shop for lunch and later the boss figured out who she was and they asked her to leave, not that big of a deal. South of the highway is newer and no problems really. Grow-ops - yes, but every BC city has them.
I have a scanner radio and listen to cops/ambulances here and just about everything that happens is very minor. Drunk 16 year olds, fender benders, etc. I go out on foot alone all the time and there's nothing to be afraid of. On my street there have been 2 burglaries in 15 years, no crime wave. Biggest problem here is boredom. |

Fuck , I lived in one of the dirtiest most downright lowclass neighbourhoods in Toronto and I had a fuckin plastic butterknife from the cafe from my work as a defense. Where the hell are you guys gonna need that kinda armor in BC? To protect yourself from the terrorists that live in Surrey? |

That includes waiting at Surrey central for the last 321 various times coming home from downtown late at night alone. |
