i think it has something to do with when the guest changes threads or whatever... it's not 84 guests. It's 20 or 30 looking at diff. threads but the system doesn't log each one out until after the 15 min timer thing.

i think v bulletin still tries to track guests with sessions so it should have a (fairly) accurate count of users at any one time.

bad guess. it's done by ip.

its done by ip yes, but i have my own forums, and it does have delay issues.. and you can be logged in multiple times with the same IP... it takes a while for the system to reset (unless this system is super gangster)
