Mayhaps a new genre spec!?!?

I was listening to a cd with a buddy last night and this track was playing that was similar to say something like New Young Pony Club's 'Ice Cream' He made the comment that it had a funk to it but was also sort of robotic..... shortly after he dropped ROBOT FUNK.

Now I don't know if this has been coined before but I'll be damned if that isn't one of the coolest genre specifications I've ever heard.

I dunno the track you're talking about, but we definitely need a name for the harder electro stuff that's coming out. Definitely not electroclash, too dirty and grimey to be electrohouse, but not really beat-centered enough to call techno. Think Justice, Errol Allkan, Simian Mobile Disco, and anybody else that's butchered the sounds off of Daft Punk's Prime Time Of Your Life and making it bounce off walls.

Kitsune Maison is quickly becoming my favorite record label. I love this stuff.
