Tax Time!
Have you guys done your taxes yet?
How much money are you getting back? Or do you have to pay anything back? I'm too lazy to do them myself, but at the same time i'm too cheap to pay someone to do them for me. I'm getting a huge return this year, but I still don't want to pay. But it would be nice to go to one of those instant refund places and get my money right away. =( How much do places usually charge? Should I just file online? Help. |

lol I haven't filed mine in a couple years...I left the country at tax time in 05, figured I'd worry about it later, then I got back at tax time in 06 but as I didn't work in the country in 05, firgured I'd deal with it later....and here we are in 07. Fuck. I'm getting all 3 years done for free by the tax guy in my mall, but I've been way too lazy to round up my paperwork. agh.

my accountant does my taxes,
also you can expense the tax services done by your accountant, so ideally you will get the money back next year. if you take the easy way out in filing your taxes online you miss out on the OTHER hidden deductions/benefits of having a professional do it. find someone that is recognized to your particular profession or you can let Carrie do it. my dad is teaching me to do my own slowly as i have business taxes to do and its all crazy at first to look at. our family accountant was charging $145 this year, so i said no to that. my brother went to HR Block and they charged him around $80. i will be getting alot back this year as i didnt make very much but i still cant see shelling out $80, but we'll see how frustrating it all gets.
i heard that the site is back up this week, either way im mailing mine in. |

i want to do them online, but this will be the biggest return i'm going to get for a while (i have a few years worth of tuition credits to use) and i didn't start working full time until mid august. i'm expecting about $4,000, so i don't want to fuck this up.
i think i'm just going to suck it up and pay someone to do this for me. should i go to HR block? |

^^^ That's who I am going to and depending on when you stopped people a student, they will do it for you for 30 bucks!! Not bad. I have two years worth of taxes to do so hopefully everything goes well. They are being done as we speak. I am expecting a huge return as well!

This tax season, I'm working with someone helping doing taxes. The rates are based on how difficult your return will be. Usually it ends up about 30.00$ per return plus GST. |
