UFC 71: Chuck Liddell vs. Rampage Jackson 2
As expected, UFC Light Heavyweight Champion Chuck Liddell will defend his title at UFC 71 on May 26 against the one of only three men to defeat him — and the only man who he has not beat of the trio — Quinton Rampage Jackson, according to UFC.com. http://ufcmania.com/2007/03/20/ufc-7...-now-official/ |

Goddamn!
Already? I thought rampage would have to beat someone else up first, maybe someone more estblished in the light heavyweight category. I figured they'd have him fight out his 2 contracted fights, then resign him for the liddell fight. Figured they'd hype the possibility if this fight with at least one more non-title fight, get rampage more comfortable in the UFC before throwin him in with Liddell. I'm a big fan of Rampage, but his fights with Wanderlei tell me he's gonna get KO'd. But who knows, he could get lucky, and catch Chuck. He does have a puncher's chance. I wouldn't mind seein him stagger chuck a bit, go for the huge pick-up and slam, but I don't see it as likely. |

yea it sucks that they want to pull the trigger so fast but who else is there that can fight Chuck at this point?
I think Ramage was the one who wanted on more fight to build his name and then sign a juicy contract building up to the Chuck fight. There's a rumour that Dana was going to do a Silva/Lidell fight for UFC 71 but it got derailed due to silva getting ktfo at Pride 33 so it was pretty much Page there to fufill that ME slot. Who else could it have been? Jardine? Evans? Neither of those guys are really ready for Chuck. I'm rooting for Rampage but I think he only has a chance if he really shows up to fight and gets back the killer instinct he had in 2003 before he got his ass kicked by Chute Box. That being said, his style is tailor made to beat Chuck but he really needs to bring his A game to do it. |

I'm in the wedding party man....
"So uhhh.... do you happen to have say a back up best man? I mean I'd love to do it and I mean it's not like I don't love you and all.... LIKE A BROTHER. For real. Thing is.... well there's this fight on the tube and I'd really like to see one of these guys get knocked the fuck out. I knew you'd understand. We still cool right? Aiight cool." |

yeah, he doesn't ever fuck around. When's the last time you saw him compete at anything but his best? I would just like to see it a bit more competitive.....maybe see chuck get slammed madly, or get caught with a hard punch. Ortiz almost made it interesting, playin the stick and move. Then his balls spoke up, and he tried to stand toe to toe, and got dropped. Babalu had a pretty good little set of punches land on chuck, but he got greedy, and undisciplined when chuck started backing...goodnight. I think rampage will be a bit calmer, cause he's beaten chuck before, not been knocked out in highlight fashion.
