Art therapy~
Psychology and Art are two things that I'm extremely passionate about.. and to hear about a career that involved both got me very interested...
I've never really heard about this until this year..... but I think the concept of using art as a form of therapy is great since talking is not the only form of communication. Often patients have difficulty talking about their emotions and problems... so by communicating through art I think some people can more easily express themselves and their emotions... I think the power of visual communication hasn't yet been widely noticed... and although there isn't much of a demand now for this type of career, I really think it would be great if in the future it's use became more widespread~ As creative people yourselves, do you think this type of therapy will have a greater need in the future?... what do you think of it's potential? ~breezy Last edited by Breezy; May 30, 02 at 01:07 AM. |

my best friend is an art therapsist this summer at the camp we are working at. from what i understand, you have them draw what they are feeling, and try to have them express themselves through art. It is also a way of interperating what is going on mentally. It becomes more of a positive emotional outlet.
as for schooling? i'm not too sure...easily attained info. though. it sounds really fascinating, so good luck if you are going into that field. I totally think that art therapy is a great outlet, and dance therapy as well, which i would like to look into. it is "new", so not as mainstream, but good luck! |
