Car AudioPhiles?
Hey,
I've been an auto audiophile for years and finally have my own ride and pay checks big enough to do some decent work (Already started). But I have some learning to do as far as intermediate/high-end torquing. So anyone who actually knows what the funk they are talking about gimme a ring on MSN or ICQ! Thanks, Adam MSN: [email protected] ICQ: 73911805 |

Honestly, A&B sucks for high end audio gear. Great marketing for the midrange product they carry though.
Go to Advance Car Sound in Burnaby if you really want to see the nice stuff. Joe the owner there is a fucking audiophile in the extreme sense of the word. He has a pair of Focal competition tweeters that cost more than most sound systems people have installed in their car! His ride is a Silver Thunderbird SC, what he has done to that boggles the mind. His car is in the shop longer than mine has been on the road. System consists of: Alpine 5959 CD changer (modified to 20 bit Burr Brown DACs) Apogee DAC Pair of Rane Parametric EQ's (one per channel) Rane Crossover Four Brax 1F capacitors 3 Butler Audio (2x150W) Hybrid Tube amplifiers (modified) Straight Wire cabling with WBT interconnects He has the trophies to back up his work too. You should just drop by and check out the work he has done to guys with deep pockets. Makes me drool. |

Best things to order from A&B is a high end Alpine or Sony head unit (the ones with NO built in amp), Kimber Kable speaker wire and Monster Cable RCA and ends.
The A&B Home Audio on Seymour St. kicks ass though! Got my home theatre stuff from there. |

I appreciate all the shopping tips and anti-pedophilia comments, seriously! - but I was more-so hoping to find some gurus who like to talk shop and would be able to provide me with advice/guidance outside of the sales staff trying to sell me a product.
...? Thanks again for the tips on stores, I'll check them out! Oh, and lastly - does anyone know of any good message boards/forums dealing with car audio? -Adam |

Adam,
If you want to discuss then email me as I'm not near ICQ for most of the day or start a thread here and post away. I've been into car audio for almost 10 years and have seen the good, bad and the ugly. This is an example of BADASS and UGLY! If you want to dig, you can check out the newsgroup rec.audio.car, it has some useful information and I hope the gurus I knew are still posting there. |
