doing a thousand situps everyday will give you a nice rock hard stomach....... under a layer of fat.
in order to get those ripped abs, you have to do some fat burning exercises to get rid of that fat if you want the muscles to actually be visible. --Joanne :P |

It's a combination of things... First of all it does depend on your diet but also your body type. IE: some peoples metabolizms are really fast and they are naturally toned etc...
I would start by hitting the gym and starting off with some simple cardio... Also watch your diet - eliminate fast foods all together. Drink tons of water... The combination of those things is a good first step. |

just do about 10 sit-ups a day routinely
that's the "I'm lazy and the gym is far away answer" it works though the slower the sit-ups/crunches the more it exercises your muscles. You don't want to do them really fast because they you aren't really doing much. |
