Bev,
You need at least 4 provincially examinable courses (including english 12) and they calculate your final average from that.. and depending on what falculty you apply for, there are different pre-reqs... Also, if you have over 90% average 1st term, they give you unconditional acceptance, or 86% 1st and 2nd term. that way you can do jack all for the rest of the year, and all you have to do is graduate... For languages, I'm not sure if you need it for all of the falculties, but it is a good idea.. I know you need it for arts (well, you need at least an 11 to get in, and if you don't have a 12, they make you take it in university, 3 x a week plus a tutorial session) so I suggest if you can, take a language in grade 12.. I took both french and spanish, and they turned out to be my easiest provincials. and ubc does suck... I had the option to go to uvic and mcgill.. but the cost for residence was waaaay to high and my parents are bitches..... (I'm only paying for your education if you stay here and go to UBC.... blah blah blah..) but with the falcuty I'm in, I have the opportunity to study abroad for a year (i didn't tell them that part!!) |

yeah i'd recommend doing a grade 12 language...doing french in university sucks (or so i hear).
it just sucks cuz i did english AP, biology AP, french AP, and art AP in high school and got first year credits for all of them but ryerson doesn't recognize the AP system...only UBC does (i don't think SFU does? i could be mistaken). oh well...all that work for nothing i guess...well apart from the obvious. |
