silly piercing question(s)...

how do you know if your piercing is infected?
what the shit are you supposed to do about it?
how the hell do you get rid of scar tissue?

ACK i was so happy when i got my stupid helix done
but now its just a pain in the ass.

i think i yanked it when i was spinning
and my headphones got caught on it..
now its raw, it hurts.. its oozing.. (ew..)
and its got massive scar tissue building up on the back..

please help!!!
what am i supposed to do!??! :(

its definatly red, especially compared to my other ear...

ya.. i have been cleaning it more..
it seems to be getting worse though.. :(

Christine, be careful not to over clean it, cause it you do.. it just makes it worse.. heh..

if you dont see a diffrence in a meek at all, go see a piercer :)

If it's red, discharge is apparent, painful burning, and if it's uncomfortable it's probably infected.

Cleanse area well with soap & water, then with the cleaning solution that your piercer recommended. If you don't see results of improvement in 2-3 days, go see a doctor :)

what are you cleaning it with ?

... use sea salts!!! get a cup for warm/hot water and a tablespoon of sea salts ... mix 'em up ... and then just soak your ear in the solution for 5-10 minutes. do that 2 times a day. DONT use anything else on it ... make sure you dry it off with a disposable item (ie. cotton ball, q-tip or toilet paper)
Dont sleep on that side ...
if you dont see improvement within 3-5 days go get a piercer to look at it - if they just tell you to keep cleaning it do so until you've been doing the soak i suggested, or whatever they say for a week. if nothing happens - then go see a doctor

the scar tissue may go down when the infection ceases but if not after the infection is gone the more you rub down the scar tissue (without piercing in) the more it will break down,.... so once its feeling better rub it as much as possible,... that breaks it down
