Why are Raves looked at as a kid thing?

I was reading in the sex-drugs section some thing about how old is too old. One of the questions was when is it too old to rave.

I really don't get this, hell when I was first partying there was hardly any one under 18. Also there's a lot a sub-scenes with people older then my self, a live and thumping.

Ok ok I know some one is right now ready to hit me with the lame ass line,,, things change. Well then, I want to know when did it become ok for parents to let there kids stay out all night getting fucked on random drugs put in a pill called E. (no I'm not talking about using MDMA). I mean it's fucking insain what some partents are letting there kids do.

I'm not tell you guys not to do any thing, but I'm asking why is going out to unsafe venue's taking random drugs, getting freaky, considered a Young person thing? Why would some one sugest I go back to club vibes in the karma, saying old people should be clubbing or some thing, or that I'm old and should quit Why any of this attitude when you kids hardly know a enough about life to even rave?

Silly kids raves are for people old enough to know who to excape ones self and main stream culture with drugs and dance.

PS go a head and show me I'm right, that you don't have a clue, and give me negitive karma for saying some thing not popular.

Raves in BC are looked as a 'kid' thing because of the age group that dominates the scene right now.

It's easy to make an assumption based on the age bracket just by looking at the lineup before a party.

I partied back East and the age group is much older (20-30) and the atmosphere is completely different than it is here.

I too wonder how parents let their kids go on "field trips for school" (I'm not making that excuse up) and then burn their brain out popping tabs due to peer pressure.

I use to preach that kids should be informed about what they are going to get themselves into, but that message has long been diluted and I don't think anyone cares anymore.

Old people like me are viewed as full of shit when I try to 'educate' someone about what they plan to do.

I dont have an agruement really with what you have to say, cause I know its true.

But some parents are rather fucked and do let their kids out to goto these allnightdanceparties we call 'raves'. Just remember not all parents are good parents. There are parents that do fucking poor parentsin jobs and let their kids to whatever. and Also there are some kids with parents like tht but still dont get into all the drugs and still try an becareful.

I was rather young when I started partying. Heck.. when ever I went to a party.. I was always the youngest. But I wasn't into drugs.. and my parents let me goto them... they didn't like the idea.. but they didn't stop me.

so you have to look more into the background into why these kids are here.

not just assume thier parents are sayin " hey >insert name here< , why aren't you going to that rave this weekend and pop those E caps with random drugs in them to get you fucked?"

(I dunno if thats exactly wut yer talking about Dave but yeah.. )

Dave.. I don't think most kids at parties know what MDMA is.

All they want is that little pill they call E and are oblivious as to what it might actually be.

I'm thinking of passing out LSD laced sugar tabs one day, freak out a shitload of partykids and they'll never pop again beacuse of the bad trip they had.

Well, the "rave scene" is divided into 3 major catergories youngins (15-18), Nammer and misc. The misc is a small percentage of people who went into the scene late.

Why 15-18, cuz most ravers once they turn 19 will go to clubs.

well, here in Seattle....the average age is about 18-21.

but of course there are younger and older. i've been going out since i was 19, bieng 26 now...i kind of spread the gap of age.

as for it bieng viewed as 'a kid thing', it's because it's a freakin' all-night dance party! it's for the kids...isnt it?

seattle seems like a good place to party...i like it there..the crowd is alot nicer. the vibe is better..and they don't have crackheads like we do up here.

i wonder why the vancouver scene is so fucked up, it seems like no where else is it like this.

i agree with 4mula

most people leave raves and move onto clubs after they turn 19

so the average age has decreased over the years

but that doesn't mean that raves are primarly for kids :)

LOL been there done that.

i dont know why but raves aren't too popular for highschool kids in my area. there's only 3 "ravers" at my school and 2 of them hardly go nemore. most kids my age think the same thing..raves are big ass dances where u save up money and go. its a form of entertainment..and its cool cuz theres no age limit and theres a huge variety of ppl who go. sad to say most kids around 14-17 go for drugs to pick up numbers. sad sad sad.. once they're 19...its off to the clubs.

(my opinion..if u disagree...too bad)

ya bev....@ my school only a few ppl "rave" im the only one who goes frequently and my old best freind used to but she stopped.. and then theres a few ppl who go to big ones like spooky/summerlove...raves are kinda looked down on with highschoolerz cuz they think there "hurting" but uhh back to the topic....i think the reason the age group is young becuz some teens wanna have fun and not go to a house party every weekend !!!~! and at my age i cant rilly get into clubs...but im pretty sure by the time im 19 i wont be partying as much at all.

the legal age difference makes a huge difference.
19 year old kids are the majority here in Seattle.
if they werent there...i bet parties would be tiny!

and whats the deal with alcohol at parties? does it exist?
do kids want it there? and if it is there...should it not be?

all i know, drunk 19 year-olds trying to party rave-style isnt cool here in seatle.

What? I don't think you have a clue what your talking about,,, there's just as many 19+ ravers out there going strong as kids,,, just you don't get to know about the events... but that still does not mean it's not happening.

I'm surprised no one has hit upon the most obvious answer to this question.

The raver stereotype is a kandy kid. Kandy kidz are, for the most part, kidz (18 and under). While the inclination to dress up like a kandy kid may last until one is 25 or (gasp!) even older, it doesn't drop the stigma they are still juvenille.

As always, the truth is miles away from the cliche but the uninformed usually don't care enough to delve into the facts.

from the little bitz of rave culture that i've seen from other areas, it seems that the kandy kid phenomenon is more of an adult thing. ie, people who want to return to their childlike times, as opposed to kids who are actually still children. it's just in vancouver that you see a large portion of the candy kids actually as kids.

well, the island too. but that's more due to the fact that nearly everyone there is under 18.

courtz- yupz my mom knows now...known since...wett~ but theres a party here and there where i changed the story around. we joke around how the rave scene has corrupted me and stuff. she luvs listening to my ticket crap and how annoyin some ppl are..... twisted, azim, agroculture, precise and slapfunk etc are daily household names. she finds the ticket stuff good for my business skills~ LOL. obviously the scene is way worst than wut my mom thinks..she still doesn't know ppl actually DIE at raves. and she will not know about that.
