My best friend and her boyfriend are down in thailand right now. They've been there for 4 weeks already and will be coming back home in 2 more weeks.
It really isn't that expensive down there...Their flight cost them $1000 return and then I believe they each took about $1000 spending cash for the 6 weeks. Maybe some more, but that's really all you need to live on apparently when you're down there. They've been all over the place. Snorkelling, elephant treks from village to village, kayaking, partying on the beaches, GOING to the beach that 'The Beach' was filmed on (koh pee pee, I believe), sleeping up in treehouses, getting full body massages starting from the toes all the way up...*sigh* Just thinking about it.... I would love to put my life on hold for a few months and just travel! |

Sunshynepunk, it's really only costing them $2000? Hm... I'd love to go to Thailand, a friend and I were discussing going there this spring, but I'm not too sure about that anymore. All I know is I'm going *somewhere* this spring/summer, and where I go will depend on how much more cash I can save up. heh.

Actually Thailand is fairly cheap. I had a friend stay there for a month on $500 and he lived exceptionally well. However, I hear that travelling towards the coasts you'll find the most gorgeous beaches. Better than Hawaii. I'm hoping to go sometime in November. :)
