So apparently...
When you get hit by a car while crossing the street at an intersection, it is 100% the pedestrians' fault.. or at least thats what ICBC thinks...
I really don't care about getting money out of it but it just makes me mad.. like obviously it was an accident and I am partially at fault... but c'mon.. 100%??? I guess I must have jumped infront of the car and yelled "HIT ME PLEASE!!" |

if you wern't in a crosswalk then please fuck off. i have to deal with idiot pedestrians running through the streets every day. cross at a crosswalk or dont complain if someone hits you.
if it was in a crosswalk then, yah, its the drivers fault. |

I was not at a crosswalk.. so thats why I'm saying it is still partially my fault.. but the traffic in one lane had stopped for me... making it at least partially the drivers fault.. thats all... I know I was stupid for crossing where I did, but the driver was stupid too... when a bus stops at an intersection, generally there is a reason, and you should be catious as well. Its just not 100% my fault.

no it isnt 100% yer fault, but you cant blame the driver 100%....
i hate it when someone is crossing in front of me when im not expecting it......... they come outta nowhere...i look up...there they are. im not saying its yer fault though, that person definitely should have payed more attention. its about 50/50 on this one. are you ok though? |

car driving on ROAD. you walk in front of them. your fault.
lets put it this way. if you were walking on the sidewalk and a car suddenly drove onto it and hit you, the sidewalk is for people. the road is for cars. dont encroach on their space just as you wouldnt want them to drive on the sidewalk because its more convienient than waiting for the intersection. life gets hectic that way. =) |

The stupid thing is that it doesn't matter if the pedestrian is jaywalking. Law states that a pedestrian has the right of way the second they step off the curb.
Obviously we don't necessarily follow that law but it is there. So technically, no matter where he was when tried to cross the street it was NOT his fault. Now how does that make sense? Jaywalking is a no-no, but if you do it and get hit its the drivers fault. I think it has more to do with making sure drivers pay attention while they drive. Hrmmm...... |

i agree with junglet though
i cant count how many junkies ive nearly hit driving by that library or whatever the fuck it is on e. hastings. they should rename one of those islands above vancouver island...u know those lil ones? anyways rename it "overdose island" and ship all the peopel from cracktown out there |

i hate crosswalks, especially ones without lights. why? because half the fucking people DONT stop for you unless you start walk out. it's scary!
I hate it. I jaywalk almost everyday ( on my way to school) but if your careful it's okie. i hate when someone in one lane stops for me. it's like they want me to go but wtf am i supposed to do?? the other lane is still moving!! it's a busy fucking street here i'm not just gonna walk out. i have my safe way, i wait until one side has a red light, the turn signal is gone there's no cars, then i walk across. stand on the island, wait for the other light, then walk and im fine. but corsswalks without lights = people who are assholes and don't stop. I HATE IT! AH! i hate being a pedestrian. =\ and east hastings is bad. i was on the bus once and he nearly hit some people. glad y ou were okie though from getting hit! |

^^^ I understand that it is annoying when pedestrains just pop out in front of cars... (I do drive too) but my point is that if you hit one of the those pedestrians, it isn't 100% their fault, YOU could have done something to avoid the accident as well.
What is that stupid commercial? 99% of accidents are preventable or something like that. Whether it was 99% my fault, 1% their fault, or hell, 50% my fault, 1% their fault and 49% fate... it was not 100% my fault. Driving is a privledge, not a right, and when you get behind the wheel of a car there is a certain amount of responsibility that you take on. |
