When you looked at the monitor was it warmed up already or just turned on for the first time?

If it was 'hot' then I'd go back and look at it again when it has been turned off a few hours first. A picture looks best once the monitor is warmed up.

If the picture looked good when the monitor is cold then it still has life left it in. Make sure the text looks sharp from at least 18" away.

$75 is a good price for a 17".

OK, so i've just hooked up my new moniter....and its still doing the same thing...the outside edges are wobbling and its making squares of colors appear then disspear when u click on something.
So this obviously wasnt the moniter problem...what is it?
could it be the powercord that Im using..because I am using the same power cord that i used with the last moniter...because the one that came with the new moniter doesnt fit into the back poweroutlet on teh computer.
what isss the problem?

yup..
your videocard is gone bye bye!

my monitor was doing the same sort of thing (but not to that extent) a while aback. i was pissed, thought it was my monitor (but it was brandnew) then i changed my video (old one was 5 years old) to a new ati radeon 8500le...

it only flickers once in a while now. but i think that's just my speakers. (not my monitor, cause my dad tried it on his comp and it worked fine)

OK YUP...I just answered my own question...it was the powercord...i just plugged in the one i got with the moniter..and the wobbling has stoped. YAY.
So I really bought this moniter for no reason...BUT...I did cuz i wanted a bigger one anyways..so in the end..it all works out :284:

is it just some wobbling and then like.. the corner may flicker or something k-pryde??

(i don't know about the whole colour block thingie)

how old is your video card??

(i was talking to a guy at some store about it, and he said it may be my speakers. and now that i think of it, it could be. cause originally, the flicker was on both sides of my monitor. but now i moved my desk, the flicker is one corner only (both my cpeakers on one side)
so maybe it's the speakers??

also, don't talk on your cell when on the comp. doing that on mine makes my monitor go wonky..hehe

most likely.

mine was getting bad and i bought a new video card and it works much better.

but watch out also for the cell phone and speakers.. :P they can cause some wonkyness but .. i don't think it would cause the colour stuff.

what type of video card do you hve?? (and if not what type.. do you know how old it is at least?)

If you put non-shielded speakers beside your monitor you are screwing up the magnetics inside the monitor. This would cause the picture to pull, or you might see magnetic moire pattern on the screen.

I would suggest you take the speakers away if you want you monitor to work properly or get proper speakers.

Yah..i know that speakers and cell phones will make the screen wobble...BUT..I do not have any speakers...so that can't be it..and i do not have my cell phone active right now..so its not that either.
Must be the vid card then.
Can that be replaced by me? or do i have to bring my computer in?

its been seriously wobbling yes... the horizontal ends just go in and out in and out... it could be myvideo card because its an oldass 4-5 year old peice of shit i bought at a lil cheap store in korea... its served me well tho...
but another problem i've been having is that sometimes when i turn on my monitor, the size of the screen is just wayyy too big... so i'd have to turn it off and on again... after about 30 seconds of flickering it would be fine.... stupid monitor has a life of its own...

and for cell phones around the monitor... haha i used to use mine ALOT while on the computer but its been busted for the past 3 weeks... and now i'm having this problem...

i don't know if it's my speakers or ot?? hehe.. cause you see, at the same time i moved my desk, i also changed almost everything in my comp (cept the video card which i got a little beforehand)

so who knows?? hehe

i'd say get a new videocard though k-pryde. cause me getting a new one (had a shitty 5 year old one) did help alot..

OK...well I took apart my computer, took out the video card, cuz maybe there was a lose connection...so i took it out..cleaned it off...put it back in again....did it all up..and its still wobbling.
So I think I need a new video card then.
Wonder how much they are.

Set the res to 640x480 70 Hz and see how the picture is before you swap out the video card.

OK yah so I did that ...and everything is all big now.
I dont like it...but the wobbling did stop..but colors are still coming up..so it is the video card.
I guess it cant handle such high resolution..but now everything is so gigantic on my screen..i cant see half the shit.

What I suggested was a test, if your video is still wonkey at that res then your card may be faulty.

I gotta reformat tommorow :(
But, my comp has been pretty good for a year now, so I am not too bitter. I am lucky to have 2 hard drives, so I just copied all of my stuff onto that one, that way I can just copy it back over. so much easier than pissing around with CD's :)
