The Shin Tai Scroll We rest in dreams, in dreams you rest. Nothing is what it seems The world of Illusion Chapter 1 I woke up, opening my eyes I looked around. Where was I? This wasn’t the same cold building I was in when I drifted off to sleep not so long ago. Instead of the cold wood floor lying beneath me, there was a warm soft layer of grass. Where the once cold bricks surrounded me, stood nothing but open air. I arose from the ground and looked over my surroundings. Along my right side were rows upon rows of forest, the area that I now live. How did I get here though? Were I stood was the plains that separated the forest from the castle, that’s where I should live. I filled with anger at that moment, why had they thrown me out? A Blasphemy, that what their exact words were, my own mother and father couldn’t even accept me for who I was. The wind rippled through my dark black hair, each strand danced individually, perfecting its movement with each gentle breeze. Tears soon formed due to my thoughts of my former home. They fell down my checks and softly landed on the ground, separating into a million more tears. I wiped my eyes of the water that formed. Sad by these thoughts I left the field, another rest at my cabin would settle me down, release me from these thoughts. The forest grew with an unfamiliar look as I walked deeper inside. The trees seemed to close in on me with every step, threatening me with an evil glare. There eyes piercing into my skin. At times I felt lost while walking, but I knew this forest, didn’t I? The time ticked by slowly, it seemed I had walked forever, but I soon made it. There stood my cabin, it was put up sloppy but to the best of my ability. The gray stonewalls that surrounded the inside was held together by a thick mud. It looked dull and dreary. The roof of branches and leaves kept out nothing, except the sun. This was the life of a princess, exiled by her own. I went inside, the door simply branches that hung over covering the entrance. Around the single room dwelling stood very little, my bed, made of two logs that sat side by side. A tiny blanket lay upon it, the only thing besides my clothes I was given. It was torn in places, but at night it kept the chilled air from killing me. A hollowed stump sat as my cupboard, a storage place for any food or berries I might manage to scrounge up and save. At this point in time it stood empty, I almost forgot how hungry I was. This was my house, my home. I made my way over to the bed. I needed rest. I still didn’t feel right, my thoughts were all coming together, this bothered me; I didn’t want those tears that fell from my crystal colored eyes. Sitting down I fell to the floor. Wasn’t my bed there? I looked around and the bed was now in another corner. How? I couldn’t understand. I felt someone else around. “Hello?” I knew they wouldn’t reply but it didn’t hurt to attempt a conversation. “Who are you” I looked around trying to catch a glimpse of who it might be. Walking towards the door I ventured outside. Standing in the field once again I was nowhere near my cabin. How did I get here? Things became more puzzling as I thought. I couldn’t explain any of this. Was I dreaming? No this was too real. I sensed things here, I could feel wind brushing through my hair, the warm salted tear rolling down my face. This was anything but a dream. Then what is going on? I sensed that same individual again here. “Hello?” This approached was helpless but the only one I had at the time. “Where are you?” I scanned the area once again. Nothing had changed since I last was here only moments ago. Then in the distance I spotted three individuals, thinking them my only hope to sort thing out I ran forward towards them. Catching up to them quickly I saw them to be three children. Two boys and a girl, they walked side by side and in complete unison, “Hello!” I hollered to them, the girl who walked in between the two boys looked up. She looked sad, troubled. They then, with each step, sank into the ground, vanishing from my sight. I stood baffled for a second then ran up to were I last saw them walking, nothing. No sign that they actually existed. Did I just see them? Of course I didn’t, they we there. Weren’t they? I again felt that presence. “Who are you?” I was sure who ever it was, was behind all of this now. “Answer me!” At this point I was hollering, who would toy with someone like this? I looked back at the forest, it would be pointless walking back, taking the assumption that I would just return back to this position. Was the person watching me from the trees? Turning back around facing away from the forest, the castle that had once stood quite proud a mighty was no more, instead just a vast field of plains, nothing more. The presence of my watcher was great, I knew for certain they were close. I turned quickly back to the forest hoping to catch a glimpse of someone peaking outwards in my direction, but to my disbelief all that could be seen was open land, not a single tree in sight. |
