Spooky vs. Simple
Just curious as to what some peoples opinions are on this:
Do you think Simple 6 can/will be a better party than Spooky 7 was overall. I noticed a vibe at the last two Spooky's that was different, and to me better than any other massive I have been to. Because of this, Spooky 6 and 7 have been the best massives for me by far. Even though there were many technical glitches and problems or what not at S7, I still had an amazing time. So my question is: Even if the technical problems are few and far between at Simple, can it compare to Spooky, or is there just something about Spooky that puts it in a league of its own?

I party is what you make out of it.
It can have the best DJ line up ever, the best sound system, best visuals and you can still have a bad time. The reverse arguement is true too. I personally use Twisted 2001 as a yardstick to compare other big parties thrown in Vancouver to. I personally hope that the sound situation is fixed this time around. Yes, the vibe is changed quite a bit over the last 18 months, the asian barstar family is not there anymore and I'm having a hard time finding a candykid to get a bracelet from. However, I always end up having a good time.

spooky 5 was better than 6 and 7 by far.
But i think this years simple will be better than the last three, simple 3 was in some big ass gay cold tent, simple4 was shut down from 2 till 6 which was just stupid, and simple 5 was pinner and one of the headliners didn't show. arewhybee.

i think spooky6 was wayyyyy better than spooky 7 cause it was a party at pne colliseum.. my opinion that place rocks for parties... the only bad shit that happend was ppl died.. . and i've never been to a simple party.... so this party should bring something new for me.

spooky 3 was the best spooky i've been too. even with the rcmp shutting down the sound at 2am. the bongo players kicked ass.
as for me - otherwise - i'm biased, I have a 'spooky' curse. so yeah. no more spooky's for me. I think Simple will be MUCH better. So YOU SHOULD ALL GO! =) Awesome linup, gonna be good visual stimuli. all in all, it will be fun! *nat*

i think simple III was the best simple
and spooky V was the best spooky i've been to but that is... drug -wise =( if i had a best twisted (w/ no drugs) party.. maybe it was Twister (geez i luv that flyer too) or twisted 2000 mayhaps '01 like mc hammered. \ spooky 's only good kuz there's that hallowe'en vibe to push it simple is ... like just a rave.

twisted 2001 was my official first party...(yes laugh all u want), but im so glad i went to that. even though it was my first massive, it was the best massive for sure. i wish i knew a bit more about the music then..cuz now i jsut look at the flyer and wish i actually knew who i was listening to. damn i was so plurry that nite.. i was tellin teh whole world it was 2 days til my bday. i was such a newbie giddy plurry KID. ugh
 im hoping to have a good simple.. last year every party seemed fun cuz most of the time i was under the influence. but like 4:20 said, spooky is just extra vibey cuz of the halloween purpose. eh maybe i'll dressup as a schoolgirl to simple...maybe not.

I might sound like a broken record here but if every massive was like Twisted 2001 then no one would be complaining about how crappy the parties in Vancouver are, be dancing their asses off and leave with a smile on their face when the last record was spun.
If I had to go back in time and do it again, I would rather relive Twisted 2001 than USC5 (ubermassive) or any other party I have ever been to. I give props to Azim and his crew for throwing one party I will never forget.

Simple this year will be real good! Better than Spooky was. Unless the sound is gonna be atrociously low like spooky.But, Antoine will bring the house down FO SHOOOO I'll miss it but hey, I ain't payin no 45 bucks on JUST a ticket. Christmas season and tis better to spend that money on someone else than go to a party

This is great feedback to read... thanks Waiema for posting this...
It was mentioned a couple of times in this thread but in my opinion, I don't think that Spooky can be compared to any other party through-out the year because it does fall on Halloween... naturally everyone is looking to party! As far as the upcoming Simple VI being just "another rave" - per MC Hammered's comments, a party is what you make of it - if "it's just another rave" is your attitude, you are fully justified to have your own opinion but then that's all it will be for you, just another rave. The past several months, I have been keeping my ear on the pulse of who you have wanted to see/hear at our shows and will continue to do so. Simple VI I think is a prime example of that, especially with having Ferry originally booked but we all know what happened there - I have no doubt in my mind that Cosmic Gate in his place will do something we have never seen before! As for DJ Antoine... he is someone we never would have looked to bring to Vancouver if it wasn't for the feedback we got from you! All of those that sent me emails, PM's and what not that requested Antoine I would hope are coming to check out his set. I guess what I am saying is, don't request the talent if you have no plans on paying for it. I am not trying to be cocky, but especially in the case of Antoine coming all the way from Switzerland, he isn't cheap and thus, there is a cost to the party that we must cover hence the current $45 regular ticket price. But to Filo's point, we all have our priorities in our individual lives... make your choices accordingly. The vibe of a party, especially at a massive, is completely out of Twisted's control. The scene has changed immensely over the past year and as a result, as have people's attitudes and expectations. The vibe which Simple VI will have will be entirely up to you or more so, all those attending. I think it's going to be a great show with awesome music from two major International headliners that Vancouver has never seen. Plus of course, I am playing. :-p To comment on technical problems at Spooky... You have my assurance that extra precautions will be taken at Simple VI to ensure that does not happen again. I will personally be doing sound checks on ALL the equipment in every room. Quality sound and adequate lighting is at the least what should be offered at a show that you pay good money to see. well, spooky 7 was lots a fun, best massive in a while, I hope simple 6 will be as good, but its alot cheaper, thats for sure.

I see your side of things Kraig, and I wanna see Antoine reaaaalllllll fuckin bad.But you have to keep in mind your partying is pretty much free since your g-listed 90% of the time. AND i'm positive you make tons of scrilla. So your priorities are taken care of. But who knows. I'll find a way to go......hopefully :P
