New Passport Receiving Office open in Abbotsford

Great news!!!! A new passport receiving office is now available in the Service Canada office located at 32525 Simon Avenue, Abbotsford. Operating hours are 8:30-4:00. Information on how a passport receiving office can help you follows: What it the Receiving Agents Program? The Receiving Agent Program provides in-person access to passport services at participating Canada Post and Service Canada centres across the country. What purpose does the Receiving Agent Program serve? The Receiving Agent Program facilitates the passport application process by broadening access to passport services for all Canadians. This alternative channel of service makes passport application process more accessible to residents in urban, rural and northern communities. What is Service Canada’s role as a Receiving Agent for Passport Canada? Service Canada Receiving Agents assist citizens with their standard passport application by reviewing it on-site for completeness and forwarding it on their behalf to Passport Canada for processing. They also accept payment and provide a file number for the application. If approved, the passport is delivered directly to the applicant by courier services. Final decisions on passport entitlement remain with Passport Canada. Only Passport Canada can authenticate identity documents and issue passports. Therefore, Canadians will have to submit original birth certificates or citizenship documents to the Receiving Agent to be sent to Passport Canada for verification. Can clients submit any type of passport application at Service Canada or Canada Post Receiving Agent outlets? Receiving Agents accept: standard adult passport applications and child passport applications signed by both parents. Receiving Agents do not accept: applications where the following conditions apply: Urgent applications where: Travel date is less than 15 working days not including mailing time (Canada Post). Travel date is less than 20 working days not including mailing time (Service Canada). A passport with a period of validity of more than one-year is submitted with the new passport application. There is an indication of a previous or currently lost/stolen/damaged or mutilated passport. Applicant does not have a guarantor and uses a Statutory Declaration in Lieu of Guarantor (PPT 132). The application is submitted on an outdated application form. In the case of a child's application, where there is no participation of the other parent. Any request other than a standard passport application, including: requests for gratis replacement requests for extension of limited validity passport requests to add a spousal surname to a passport issued in the surname at birth. Can child applications be submitted at Receiving Agent outlets? Yes, provided the signatures of both parents appear on the application form. If one of the parents fails to participate, no matter what the circumstance, the client must apply directly to Passport Canada. Can Passport-On-Line (POL) clients submit an application at Service Canada Receiving Agent outlets? Yes. POL clients may submit an application at a Service Canada Receiving Agent outlet. What documents does an applicant need when submitting their applications at a Receiving Agent office? The original documentary evidence of citizenship, such as a Canadian birth certificate or a Certificate of Canadian Citizenship must be included with the application. The applicant must also submit documents to support their identity from the examples listed in the instructions on the application form. Photocopies that are signed and dated by either the guarantor or the Receiving Agent are also acceptable. Signed photocopies are recommended so that the applicant may obtain the benefits derived from the originals while their application is being processed. Passport Canada will return original documents to the applicant once a decision on the application has been made. |
