Raves
looking back on it now i think it is terrible that there are all age raves...
i went to my first rave and got so fucked up at age 15...that is so wrong... If my kid ever goes to a rave I will fucking kill them I think that raves should be 19+ for sure..it is not ok to let 14/15 yr olds run around on e while there parents think they are at a sleep over I'm all for the music and yeah raves were cool at the time but werre they fun because of the music or the drugs?? I love the music and always will but i question whether that would be the case had I never done e....music is a memory and kinda takes you back to that time and I think that's why I like it...i |

You can't build a future generation if there's no exposure to the scene.
A lot of people go for the drugs, and a lot go for the music. When I started at 15, I went for the music (later on I did experiment with drugs, but I still tend to party sober.) I live in a tiny hick-town of a place (Sooke), and people my age have nothing to do, really, but get drunk and kill themselves off. I don't know how many deaths by drunk driving or suicide we've had in the past year, but I definitely can't count them on one hand. Raves give a lot of us a place to connect, to break down inhibitions, and most of all, enjoy ourselves. There's always going to be people coming solely for the drugs. But I find a lot more people are there for the good vibes. Labels and stereotypes break down, everyone is in it together. That's just my $0.02. |

I went for the pills 1st, the music 2nd. That's just how it is. If my child decided to go to raves i hope i would not act as oblivious as my own parents did and try to educate my kids as to the ill effects of drug abuse and bad turns and hope they take the same route. If thwy do not i hope i am strong enough to redirect them.
ps; nucks in 6. |

honestly im still a kid at 18 i guess but i started 1st for the music. I knew however that if i tried going to a rave sober i would not last all that long, and if i went drunk id end up poping something anyways.
So i got out read and educated myself to teh best opf my knowledge and got clean caps and went for the drugs 2nd. If i did not like Electronica i would have never gone to a rave or tried E. As it is now i see reason in limiting but personally from my expierinces i dont think it is that harmful if you raise your kid to be smart on their feet when it comes to drugs. |

Kids have the potential to do drugs anywhere.
Not all kids went to raves for the purpose of getting high and tripping out. I only discovered the rave scene because i was really into dancing... popping etc... (popping the dance btw... not doing e) However, I just like the idea of 19+ events because it weirds me out seeing a bunch of 15 year old kids fucked up on drugs. That is me being selfish though, because i know not all kids go there to get high. Raves have nothing to do with kids doing drugs. I figured since you raved yourself you would know that. Kids can and do, do drugs everywhere.. just because they arn't going to be allowed into a rave, doesn't mean that they wont be getting fucked up on e with their friends , if they want to. |

It was five years after my first party before I ever did anything harder than alky or weed (the basics for any teenaged gathering, really). S'pose I was more of a 'music first - drugs second' kind of guy.
Still, while I have no problem with a 15+ event, those all too often end up being nothing more than glorified high-school dances. I'll stick to my 19+ parties, thank youse. |

You know what? If you were 15 again, you'd be going to a rave and getting high tonight. Your perspective is changing, and there's probably something to what you're saying, but the perspective of that younger kid is going to be the same. Like hardstylin said, people are going to go get fucked up no matter what, and little tweens are going to be stupid. Like 99.9999999% of them, you turned out fine in the end, so why flip out about it? |
|

^ no im not flipping out I'm not talking about like underground raves and whatnot im talking more about plaza and shit....in a way its condoning drug use among kids which I don't agree with...
kids will be kids for sure but just weird ppl will make money off of innocent kids........but then again i guess plaza was a safer environment than underground |

I went to my first rave at 16.
I drank booze for the first time at 17. I smoked weed for the first time at 21. I did mush for the first time at 22. I did chemicals (E and Acid) for the first time at 23. So there goes your whole "Kids are irresponsible" theory out the window. Fuck, I know some nearly-30 year olds who should really curb their drug usage, get way too blitzed at raves and clubs and become incoherent tools every time they get drunk. Are you displeased with how you turned out? Are you not happy with who you are? Because otherwise you are being what we like to call a "hypocrite". As a side note, me and gnosis rented a movie the other day... I think it was called "Rave" or something like that. Holy shit, was it ever a downer! It started out with some amateur actors doing a fairly decent job of setting the scene, and then as they all started heading to the party and arriving, it looked like a pretty fun movie, but man did the wheels ever start to fall off for those kids!!!
Maybe the 15 year olds should be watching it as a cautionary tale =) |

i had gotten drunk, smoked pot, and had sex before i went to my first party at 15. i never touched pills until i was 18 or 19 and it was always supplemental not required. if you don't want your kids to abuse drugs then don't raise fucking idiots. it's that easy.

^word. I didnt even pop e at my first rave.
I started raving because of the music first. The other main attraction was just being apart of a counter-coulture as a teen, the whole scene just seemed sooooo cool ! ha ha ha... i still think it is pretty cool, but my views on raving have changed quite alot from what they were 8 years ago |
