Pros: - Tagging - Open Source - Simple & Easy - Looks nice - XHTML/CSS Cons: - I'll have to rewrite the tagging and make it more powerful - I'll probably have to write an uploader - I'll probably have to write a lot of features into this - That takes time - I'm lazy freshmeat.net: Project details for minimal Gallery |

Have you checked out the photo gallery software I run on my website? I use Coppermine Photo Gallery on rustybob.ca. It meets most of your requirements, although I'm not entirely sure about the metadata part. It may or may not, and if it doesn't, Coppermine has tons of "hacks" out there that add features.
All you need is Apache, PHP, MySQL, and the latest versions of PHP should have GD in as an extension already. It is free and open source. The reason I chose this for my website was the fact that it does have an easy upload system. There is a web upload, but you can only do 10 pics at a time. You can FTP, which is quick. The way that I use, however, is the "Publish to Web" feature in Windows XP. Click that on the folder you're in, choose the pics you want, and it does the rest. |
