Is caffeine a mood-altering substance?
If so, relate your most mind-blowing experience while under the influence of java.
Sometimes, I order espressso just for the 5 minutes of a lift but sometimes pay for it by the java trot. However, too much meditation has chilled me out. I do know of people who never touch the stuff cos they claim they get all hyped out like snorting coke. Has anyone here done crazy stuff while high on a cup of java?:wacko::cry: I have sucked cancer sticks like a roach. Nicotine is pretty trippy. |

There was this guy who dressed in a business suit and a briefcase.
He tried to hold people hostage at a business. Then he pulled out a Starbucks plush toy out of his briefcase. First documented caffeine-induced psychosis in BC history. From what I can tell, there are quite a few people who are supposedly mentally ill who drink enough coffee to stay mentally ill. The few of them that go into coffee abstinence miraculously act and talk normally, but because they are on meds, go on to develop medication side effects which are discounted as "symptoms of mental illness". Sadly, most symptoms are actually caused by medication, especially after the caffeinated ones are cleaned up. So as to not get put on those dangerous medications, never admit to hallucinations and never talk to your invisible friends in public. Last edited by radha; May 01, 07 at 04:19 PM. |

no, it wasn't.
there was the case of some guy with a food allergy (to milk, no kidding) that made him nuts. when he realized he was getting better, he went back on milk. reason? he'd lose all his mentally ill buddies and social network. though, it is difficult in BC to get treated for mental illness if you aren't psychotic or a danger to yourself or others. and, believe it or not, nothing i've said on FNK would make me a danger to anyone else. |

Seriously, I know this lady who goes batty if she drinks coffee.
Last I know about her, she claimed she takes 25 mg of Seroquel as a sleep aid. Sometimes low doses of anti-psychotics are used off-label as sleep aids. Though, erowid has experiences of when they give waking dreams. |

um dude, go on Clubvibes, and ask "Who here uses anti-psychotics like Seroquel as a sleep-aid?"
Basically, anti-psychotics are non-addictive sedatives which may also tweak dopamine and/or serotonin receptors. And, one of the signs of psychosis may be mania, one of the symptoms of which is "reduced need for sleep." Think stimulant psychosis where the stimulant is a wonky balance of dopamine, noradrenalin, adrenalin, adenosine, acetylcholine, and other neurotransmitters. Oh, and smokers, boozers and coffee lovers may be addicts IF they need to use to reduce the symptoms of withdrawal. my recommendation: two puffs of the pot at bedtime cures the nicotine, alcohol and caffeine fix. |
