Haha.. I know what you mean. I have several friends who either have wee ones or are currently preggers, and almost all the girls I was close with in high school all have kids.

Sometimes I swear I can hear my biological clock ticking. lol (I'm 27)

lol...im noticing as i grow closer to proper adulthood (25 in july.) i get the sense that alot of the women that i am friends with around my age or older who are not haveing kids, married,in a relationship ect are kinda getting ancy....

also, the younger women that i am friends with all kinda seem to want to be married, kids, house blah blah by like 23ish-28 max!..

if that works for you then fine but i cant see myself having kids till like 28-35.

you know come to think about it.....majority of mid 20s women that i know are married to men 28-35..

i read somewhere that its cause we all have like this genetic switch to drive us to settle down and raise babies.

...

my best friend and his wife-to-be gave birth on March 27th.. She just turned 19 a couple of months ago. I spend a lot of time around them and its painfully cute how happy they are and entirely obvious that it's what they wanted and it the right time for them.

Being the baby's godmother I get to enjoy him on my own time and not hear him cry through the night. I know I don't have the patience for children now, and won't anytime soon. I feel like I am just getting started with my life and am not ready for a chapter like that to begin.

HOW MANY OF THESE PREGNANCIES WERE PLANNED

THE AMOUNT OF GIRLS HAVING BABIES BEFORE THEIR MID 20s ON PURPOSE IS PRETTY SMALL, UNLESS THEY RURAL OR DOWNTRODDEN

I have a baby by another mother.

I get to do all the fun stuff, and then when she needs a change, back to mommy she goes. LOL

Do you have any idea what being a godparent means? More importantly, what does it mean to you?

I have friends that just had their first child. They decided to start trying right before their wedding. Got knocked up by the wedding and now have a beautiful little girl.

She is in her mid-20's.

They both have careers and have owned 3 homes together. They were ready to start.

I hardly know any women who plan their pregnancies.

Traditionally, a godmother sees that the child gets a religious education. Also seen as the one responsible for the child should it become an orphan. (god forbid that happen).

I have a hard time believing that you are interested in what it means personally to me, to be his godmother but if you are actually interested in that aspect of my personal life you can send me PM. I love him to death and love talking about him. I'd love to write you a book about it.

The religion part is somewhat right. It is believed that the child should be well rounded and raised by a community. It is a religious practice though.

Believe it or not, the custody thing is more like a myth. Custody would need to be made legal in a will. Stating someone is a godparent does not grant them custody in the event of a tragedy.

I think the term "godparent" is thrown around too loosely.

IMO whether its a myth or not really depends of the intentions of the parents. (It IS a myth if they don't put it into writing, but if they do its a reality).

essentially we are making the same point lol

I agree, when making a will when Georgia was born, if something were to happen to me or Nathan, we would like my parents to raise her. If for some reason they could not (health or what not) we would then have Nathans sister raise her.

When Georgia was baptised my aunt was who we asked to be the god-mother as we wanted someone who would follow through with her no matter what happens to us. It is on paper that she is the godmother, but we chose not to have her in the will. She is more there for the religous part, and as another great role model to Georgia

I am not a religious person by practice. But I do believe in my religion. I can respect a person that follows a practice/religion properly.

A godparent isn't just a person who buys a child cool gifts and acts like the cool aunt.

I have this too. One of my really good friends has 2 daughters, I love being a godmother I get to have the perks of having a baby without actually having one. I love those girls to death.

The reality of the situation of course is that if anything was to happen to the my friends, either of there parents would get the girls before I would, but I wouldn't hesitate to take them.
