just gather up all the porn you can find hidden around the house for reference and practice your naked ladies. if it's good enough for six year old me, it's good enough for you.

you can take courses within your community - most community centres offer art courses - from animation to water colours.
i dont think people are born with artistic talent, i just think some people latch on to drawing and painting more when they are young and end up doing it more and practicing more then others.

sorry courtney, but less talented people can learn how to draw. I've seen it happen.

When I was growing up, my younger brother admired my natural talent for drawing and took it up himself as soon as he could. He had a much harder time learning how than me due to his dyslexia, but after years of constant practice I can proudly say his drawing skills have developed quite nicely over the years.

I don't really draw much anymore, but my bro still does and he's got some very excellent adobe photoshop/illustrator skills.

Some people can learn it quite easily, others cant. But it isn't impossible to learn. Drawing itself is just a technical skill, you don't necessarily need to be an artist to know how to draw. It most definitely can be learned and practiced.

Having interesting ideas and things to say/express thru the medium of art is an entirely different story! ha

my brother is dyslexic and has other learning disabilities but he never struggled with art - i dont think that has anything to do with it.

i think you missed my point mugsy.

I was just using my bro as an example of someone who wasn't naturally gifted artistically, but was still able to develop good drawing skills with years of consistent hard work/practice.

Donkey, they told us to get this book when I was in make-school for those that couldn't draw that well free-hand.

Learn to Draw: Drawing on the Right Side of the Brain.

You can buy it at chapters and it also has a workbook.

I'm not really good at drawing....but I know a couple of kids who are born with amazing art talents. I saw this gorgeous seaside watercolor painting, and was like ( to the kid ) who drew this? It's gorgeous! The kid was like....Oh...I did. -blush-

just use your imagination. fear of not putting it on paper achieve's nothing. Just the other day I picked up 3 piece's of canvas on a project I plan on working on. Still not 100% what I will be putting on it but I'll just put what ever comes up into mine

you beat me to it. another thing that will help you more than probably anything is figure drawing. drawing is a skill. anyone can learn. talent will only make that skill come to you sooner rather than later. keep in mind though, people who you probably see as "good drawers" have probably been doing it quite regularly for 5-10+ years so don't expect results right away. the more you do it the better you'll get at it. that works in reverse as well.

i wish i could draw as well. sadly that was one of my only weaknesses when it came to art.
I rocked the manual camera in photography like there was no tomorrow though.
I miss taking photos and developing them myself. :(
