i actually looked into that. I believe you need something called a Socan permit for public music and it costs more if you deem it a dancing event. As well, they have a special other permit that they give out on a limited basis and it's all scheduled yearly. I didn't try to get one but you probably can if you give it a shot.
I also think they allow these permits for non-profit causes or charities. I didn't look too much further into it. But I had the same thought last month and wanted to do it. I still do too. |

We used to do this back in Kamloops all the time. We just called and told the police and they were fine with it as long as it didnt run to late into the night on week days, weekends we could go later.
Though, the cops out here dont seem to be as easy going as the ones back home. |

for example if they show up and feel like shutting you down it could be for drugs/drinking in public/etc
