I just got a job on the Gulf Islands.
My cousin is on his way to Pender Island to work at the Port Browning Resort and I guess he mentioned that I'd be interested in working. They just called me today asking if I wanted to start work as soon as I can get down there with free staff accommodations and all that jazz. Goodbye Fort Nelson.
Stoked. Has anyone spent much time on Pender? Anything to tell? |

Pender Island is beautiful man. Quiet and the people are great... the whole tiny community everyone knows everyone sort of thing.
I haven't been in a couple years but its been a summertime escape for me for a long time. I'm sure you'll enjoy it there. |

I was just on Pender Island..and that resort your talking about..well it's not really a resort..lol. It's just a little cafe/pub with a pool and some cabins.
Personally I could never live there..theres like 3 stores in that whole town. It really is beautiful up there though! You need a boat!! The little cafe down by the ferry terminal serves the BEST food ever. My friends mom lives up there and it only takes us 45 mins to get there (by boat) so maybe i'll come visit you!!! This is the view from the cabin on his mothers property! |

Hey Chad my close friend Kate worked there 2 summers ago. She is on Hornby island working there this summer.
She may have even worked the same resort as you though, i'll send her an e-mail Pretty much she said it was easy living. Docks, water, cool people, and a lot of alcohol. She had a blast and put all her tips into a spot and at the end of the summer had a huge nest-egg. You're going to have a great time. Last edited by decypher; Jun 15, 07 at 08:18 PM. |

Kam, it's exactly like she said. Such a great time. I work 7am-2pm five days a week and spend my evenings drinking local wine on the beach or jamming with the locals. Our morning dishwasher is an aspiring shaman that always has something interesting to talk about on shift; not to mention all the naturally growing plants you could possibly imagine. I'm looking forward to the Peruvian Torch Cactus.
Charlene... there's a piano here with your name on it should you ever feel inclined. |

Be wary of the obese messanger pigeons foomping outside your window. I might just have to mosey on down.. adventures are delicious. (especially with pianos) |
