sd memory car d problem... please help

i had been taking a bunch of pics on my camera which has a 2gb memory card, all of a sudden it said that the memory card was full, (even though im sure there was space left on it) when i went to go look at the pictures in my camera it says there are no files to view, but when i go to take a picture it says memory card full. I also have a sd reader, and when i put the card in it, it doesnt read anything and acts as though there is nothing installed in the reader. I have a secondary sd card which works fine (it allows me to take pics, look at pics and read them on my sd reader)

Does anyone know what could be the problem? Has this happened to anyone before? Is there somehow the card got corrupted and ive lost all my pictures?

If anyone has any ideas or insight it would be much appreciated, since the majority of the pics were takin on my vacation to lagos.

thanks in advance

sounds like you need to re-format your card.

when ever you dump your pics and delete your cards be SURE to re-fromat them right away so they have no trace data.

i learnd this the hard way and lost some very special shots of brazil wich nearly brought me to tears.

as far as getting your pics off the card, try downloading dome data recovery software or consider taking the card to a place that can do all that for you.

best of luck

Sure enough, some of us are willing to meet up and help you recover said stuff - under your supervision, of course. There's a good chance most if not all of your pictures are recoverable, as long as you haven't tried taking even more pictures and whatnot.

Issue, most likely, has to do with the filesystem on the card [FAT32] running into some file table limit. Solid state drives aren't like hard-drives [no moving parts] so the chance of anything else going wrong is slim.

I'm not sure about demagnetization, though. If that's happened - you're shit out of luck. Data recovery services won't be able to recover that for you and the government isn't likely to be interested.

SD cards are plentiful and cheap, but be forewarned you get what you pay for with them. I'd recommend a camera that takes CF cards. Them fuckers be explosion proof.
