Sleep.
The lack of sleep is probably the reason why you're sick. Your immune system needs time to heal itself and the only time it's really going to do that is while you're sleeping. Go to bed early and sleep as long as possible. Each good sleep you have will cut your cold down a lot. If you're having trouble sleeping, take some nyquil or cough medicine or somethin that will ease your symptoms until you pass out. When you're not sleeping, take it easy and eat fruits and vegetables and zero sugar. Anytime I feel a cold coming on (almost always because of bad sleep or too much sugar in my diet) this works for me all the time |

But if you ask me i'd only resort to those medical solutions if your cold is horrible horrible. Most people get a bad cold and they blow it out of preportion. As long as your throat doesn't start swelling, scratching and hurting a lot then your fine. Having a bad throat condition can sometimes lead to other lung infections and so if it's bad you should goto a dr and see if he suggests anti-biotics. I stay away from all over the counter/prescription antibiotics as much as i can when sick. Save that stuff for when your immune system is really threatened. Echinacea has been shown to boast immune systems and help you get better. Green tea is also good. |

I read this online a while ago during my stuffy nose season. Lay down on the floor on your back. Best if the floor is hardwood, but carpet works too. Place either a penny or a nickel ( penny works best ) on your nose, and balance it. Close your eyes. Make sure your body is completely straight on the floor. Now depending on which side of your nose is plugged up, imagine the coin on your nose turning that way. Have an image of the coin rotating in that direction for at least thirty seconds, then sit up. I'm not sure about you, but this has always worked for me.
Another method for stuffy noses is rubbing marmalade, butter, or garlic marmalade, on the bridge of your nose. Mom's remedies always work best. =) |
