Who wants to go scuba diving?
Are there any certified divers on here?
Anyone wanna go diving? Ill supply free air (I just get it from work lol). You only need your own gear (if your missing some piece of equipment I might be able to lend you something depending on what it is). Just looking for dive buddies, since the water is getting good for diving right now. If you wanna know my certs/quals Im happy to let you know for sound of mind. |

Well, without being certified your kind of restricted. If you want to try it out you have to go to a shop and try a Discover Scuba or a Resort Course program. This will include around 2-3 hours of classroom instruction, followed by a guided dive. If you want to get Certified to dive afterwards, the course is about $350-400. (Dont quote me, I just started at the new shop and I dont know all the prices yet). Equipment will be avaliable to you during any course, however afterwards, you will need to rent or buy your own gear." As of right now though, Im looking for certified divers to come with me. |

Im certified but I dont think I could handle the cold. Im a one of those "I only dive places where I dont need a wetsuit" divers.
Diving question though - could one get a job in the dive industry (Im thinking south east asia or carribbean) with just their dive masters? Im heading to vietnam in september and I was just wondering if I should pursue my instructors? |

If you are keen on working in the dive industry, getting your instructors ticket is a must. Dive Masters are the ones who just kinda go over to Asia somewhere and need to make a couple bucks. To make an actual job of it you need to be an Instructor for sure. |

I believe a refresher course is only a couple hours long, and costs about $10/hr. And its based upon what you can remember and how fast you pick it up again.
BUT... remember Im new to this shop and I dont know their prices very well yet. And different shops have different prices. Just find a shop and ask them. |

Most shops rent gear. However, prices are totally dependant on the shops. I know we rent gear, but prices vary. We have packages and deals and such you can look at as well. Espically if you want to go on a dive, sometimes we have little dive packages where we will take you on a dive and rent you the gear for a deal price. |

People keep wondering why should I dive in BC?
Well, how about this. Scuba Diver Magazine (One of the world leading Dive Mags) rated BC Diving as; - 1st in Macro Life - 2nd in Big Life - 1st in Wall Dives - 3rd in Wreck Dives - 1st Healthiest Environment Macro Life means we have the most to see for smaller life underwater. Theres everything down there to see. We also have lots of larger animals that are friendly and safe to see. SeaLions, Whales, Fish, and much more! Wall dives! Walls are increadable and by far some of my favorite types of dives! So much life and color to see! Wreck dives, ships, battle ships, planes, and more! And, we've got the Healthiest Environment to dive in. It means our waters are clean, clear, and everything has bright color to it and is alive! As for the cold? Its worth it and its not that big of a deal compaired to what your missing! Ive worked in the tropics. And I can tell you that while its nice to be able to wear just a baithing suit and a tank and go diving, theres WAY more to see and do out here in our waters then in warm waters. I am a true believer that our BC diving is the best in the world, and Id rather do a day of 'cold' diving (even though its really not that cold right now anymore) then do a week of warm water diving in the tropics! Hope I answered your questions. If I didnt, or if you have more, please let me know. Still looking for some dive buddies though lol |

If you need more info or have more questions about becoming an instructor feel free to hit me up. As well as if your planning on doing your IDC in BC (Which is your best bet, BC Instructors are rated as some of the best in the world) then i know some of the better places to go for it.

ALSO: Its that time of the year again! The Six-Gill Sharks are coming up from the depth's, and should be viewable again Aug.1.
Im arranging a trip with my dive shop to go see them this year. Anyone who wants to come should let me know asap! Spots will fill fast! *Req for this trip, PADI Advanced Open Water cert or equal to. And you should be an active diver within this year. Would greatly help if you had Night Diver and Deep Diver. Both or either. Dry Suit is a must! |
