I can't believe I have to do this, it's like trying to disprove that tree nymphs exist. It should be obvious to everyone, but...
Hollow Earth is the theory that the Earth is hollow, with, ugh, a smaller version of the sun in the center. And as many hollow theory people believe, an advanced civilization living in the center. There are plausable theories from the scientifc community (sad thing is when you work on something like planetry formation it is almost always a theory) regarding planetery formation. These theories, from people with a scientifc background, show how gravity of a star forms these planets. This is a well researched field, studied by hundreds of scientists. Hollow earth has been researched by... hmm... Quote:

but if we compile the wisdom of the ancient and not so ancient cultures, most of them conclude the existence of an underworld, like Tartarus. ----------------------- Wherefore God also hath highly exalted him, and given him a name which is above every name: That at the name of Jesus every knee should bow, of things in heaven, and things in earth, and things under the earth; Philippians 2:9-10 Last edited by Gunter S; Jul 21, 07 at 09:49 AM. |

this is a logical fallacy. no degree is needed. proof or peer reviewed theories are needed.

they were also under the impression that the earth was flat. the "wisdom from the ancients" on issues like this was pure speculation based on nothing but anthropomorphizing the world around them and attempts to make the world around them make sense in terms and concepts they could readily understand.

There are plenty of well researched theories to back up me. However, if you make the claim that there is an ancient civilization living under the Earth, which has a small sun in the center, you have to give some proof. I mean honestly, you've put nothing forward, but keep asking me to. |

Most of the west approaching the fall of Constantinople in 1453 had lost touch with ancient knowledge and science. Alexander the Great although brutal was good at spreading that seed of empire which spread knowledge all over. After Europe was pillaged by the Christians a lot of knowledge was lost in the first millennium common era. of the Increased contact with the East led to translations of old hellenic texts. This became a catalyst for the renaissance revival of knowledge and the re-understanding of universe and planet earth in a more humanistic tradition. There is a supported argument that the Rig Veda devolves theses revelations about the orbits and shape of earth over 6000 years ago and was preserved by eastern writings in the beginning of the common era and then translated to the West later on. although i did not know that, you may notice that no reference to specific "ancient knowledge" was mentioned other than an extremely vague reference to a "hollow earth" story from the past, a story i would equate with a similar mindset as the flat earth story.

Yeh it was more an offshoot i guess but is very interesting nonetheless. BTW hollow earth is pretty loony and i dont think Gunter can take the conclusion of underworlds in ancient philosophy as proof that the earth is hollow and full of little demons lol. I remember seeing a documentary on it somewhere.

they were also capable of creating wonders like the Temple of Jupiter and the Pyramids, something that we can't reproduce, even today. |
