Having to give up something you love, because of other people..
I am really considering selling my bike, because of all the fucking morons in Vancouver who are apparently blind..
Every time i ride, i almost get hit... I'm not weaving in and out of traffic and riding down the shoulder... i'm riding normally. It pisses me off how Vancouver has so many horrible drivers. If you drive 4 hours away from Vancouver in ANY direction, you will really get a feel for how horrible our drivers are... Not only do people here have a hard time staying in their own lane, but it seems like as if the "slower traffic keep right" is a myth over here... As much as i love riding, i am really considering selling my bike because even though it's fun as fuck.. it's not really a Vancouver thing... on bcsportbikes.com seems like every week a member is dying... not even including the unknown rider down threads... and RIP so and so.. P.S. How many of you thought because of the title, that this was going to be a thread about having to dump a girlfriend because your friends don't approve? |

You know that feeling when someone doesn't see you in your car, and they swing out infront of you and you slam your brakes and screech towards them and stop just in time... and then your heart feels like it drops into your stomach and your legs become all weak etc..
how is that a fun feeling? |

PS: Harden the fuck up. Would you rather be going down 6th Ave in NYC?

Street bike.
I agree, Vancouver drivers have major driving issues. You have to be 100% alert when riding a bike in this city. Nothing you can really do other than decide whether you want to risk getting run into by 2 tons of plastic and steel. You could carry an airhorn, and airhorn every bad driver you see. Not that it will fix anything, but it might wake them up. |

hahaha... alright there btw... good arguement... because it's fucked up in New York i have to be happy with the driving conditions in Vancouver? You're right... who cares if i almost get killed because of the horrible drivers... it could be worse... People in South America have to equip their cars with flame throwers to combat the car jackings... so... compared to them... i have it great! thanks for showing me the light, ebbomega! |

sell it and buy a drift car. fun x 1 billion
but yea i hear ya man. even in abbotsford we have fucking TERRIBLE drivers. i hear the whole slow traffic tot he right thing... but right now we have a huge thing with people not realizing that vehicles have the ability to use turn signals. like holy fuck, theres a LIGHT that tells other drivers which lane i am switching to. holy jesus i never would have guessed!! i almost got in accidents x 3 today alone because of it. |

I hate most bikers. So many times it would be so easy for them to ride just a little closer to the curb or parked cars, BUT NO they peddle just enough into the lane to slow down the cars behind them and make them make sudden moves into the the left lane. I swear they do this on purpose just to piss us off. And then there are the real evil ones who ride SIDE BY SIDE. Not to mention a lot of them dont follow the road rules such as stop signs or signal when turning. It freaks the crap out of me and I dont know what to do. I also dont know why I like never see bikers in the bike lanes, but I always make sure to not to drive in them and always shoulder check. Most pedestrians are great... EXCEPT down town. I swear they seem to think cars dont exist. They cross streets, allys, with out looking and even after the red hand stops flashing. I once had some dude walk into the back of my car and bang his bag against my trunk. His excuse was that he had the right away. Even though I already pulled out of the ally while he was still a good 3 meters down the side walk. I take it there either made at me because im not as environmentally friendly, or they'er jelous of my nice ride. Last edited by R Wellbelove; Aug 15, 07 at 11:12 PM. |

ebbo, i know this is going to shock you, but i am with donkey on this one.
i think that if vancouver wants to continue to be a world class city, we need to start acting more like it. that includes making drivers more accountable for their actions. i am truly of the belief that when we renew our licenses in this city, we should go through testing each time to ensure we do drive with do care and attention. as well, i think they should throw out air care, and cars should go through an actual inspection every year like they do with large vehicles. |

a bunch of my friends are in a similar position because a friend of ours was killed by some dumbass a few weeks ago.
They are all very careful wear full leathers and helmets but that dosnt mean anyhitng when you get hit by some unattentive idiot. |

I have been told by a few fellow motorcyclists to buy a louder exhaust for my bike, to make myself stand out more... but i'm not sure if it would work... I am not really into loud exhausts... even when it comes to cars, i just like them lowered with rims and keeping it clean... loud exhausts seem like a 16 year old need for speed thing... R Wellbelove: talking about a motorcycle.. not a bicycle and about the comments about buying a quad or drift car... That is actually a really cool idea... maybe i'll sell it and buy a 240sx and make it a track drift car only... would be a fun hobby, and also wouldn't depend on the weather as much also.. sucks though, because if i sell i will take a loss since i bought the bike new in 06 :( shoulda bought a used bike... but i loved riding, and would/will never get bored of it, so i figured if i was going to keep riding forever that buying new would be the best choice... i didn't even factor in the fact that i might not want to ride based solely on the fact that other drivers are horrible drivers |
