One like this happens only every so often. The last one like this was in 1991. The moon was very deep in the Earth's shadow, which made it look so dark and red. The one that happened in March had the moon situated closer to the edge of the shadow, so it appeared more green or turquoise. Also, the rotations happen on more of an angle than a nice, regular circuit, so the moon misses the shadow all together most of the time.
