Have you considered not using FNK and Facebook to replace social interaction, and pick up the phone?

I agree.

If you really focus on your homework and not take fnk/facebook breaks, you would probably have atleast 2 hours in your day to spend with friends/loved ones.

Come on guys, we're not robots.

Sure it's common-sensical reasoning to say "eliminate factor X and apply time used towards factor X towards factor Y" but let's be realistic here. We're human, not robots and everyone needs mini breaks once in a while. It just becomes a problem when people take their breaks to a wasteful extreme such as 3-hour breaks between 1 hour study sessions.

I'm taking 6 courses right now and I have my hands full, but I take breaks. I need them. Whether they are for facebook, fnk or other, sometimes I just need to zone out and not think. Even if the time spent "zoning out" could be used towards studying, the reality is that if you're NOT taking a break from studying, you're likely just zoning out in the direction of your books anyways. You may as well take a more refreshing break, where academic readings are not part of the equation.

My advise is to plan ahead, and reward yourself.

Decide you are going to go to the library or another location WITHOUT YOUR PUTER, if it is a serious distraction, and get something accomplished, then go out with friends or waste an afternoon online.

I know the feeling, each day I keep wishing there was more hours in the day to do life things and see my friends and stuff...a 'creative' work schedule has made most of my week consist or working, sleeping and not much else.

Sometimes it's beneficial just to step back and remind yourself that hard work always pays off in some way, and that sometimes little sacrifices mean big benefits in the end.

I completely agree that breaks are needed..but don't complain about not having time with friends/family when your spending 3 hours a day on facebook.

It's all about time management.

I think its part of the sacrifice you make with school. Its hard because im slowly entering back into that world. And if you struggle more than the average person academicly, it just takes up more of your life. However I totally agree with Yoko that you do need breaks. For example im only going out for one night this weekend, the rest are dedicated for rest and school work.

The good news is that college/uni doesnt last as long at highschool. 3 1/2 months and your DONE! Pull up your pants and suck it up. Youll have lots of time to party again during Christmas break and summer.

Yeh school takes up a lot of time with the reading but it's so rewarding if you enjoy what you're studying. What's not enjoyable is SFU's coldness during this season and foggy buses.

courtney as you get older the feeling gets worse.

the trick is(i think) is to just come to terms with it and enjoy the moment as much as possible without looking too far ahead or too far behind.

people waste FAR too much energy and time focusing on either the past or the future without focusing on the now....

from what it sounds like there is nothing really wrong with what your doing. your time is spent on admirable pursuits like work and education. you should feel good about that.

but the crunch of time will not ever go away.

"the unexamined life is not worth living"

its really up to you to apply time management or re-organize your life the way you like it.

for example, different job, take the course somewhere else with better schedule, etc.

you'll need to do sth about it if u want it to change, otherwise it'll suck ;)

I missed the part where either of us mentioned our own selves spending 3 hours on facebook.

^ope, that's because we didn't!

decypher... sfu isn't all that bad.
As a transfer student from sfu -> ubc, I appreciate more now the fact that you can get practically anywhere on sfu campus without getting drenched by the rain. Not the case at UBC.

I meant a break from school not work :p

But regardless if you're finding yourself over whelmed, you need to slow yourself down. One uni student told me, that as soon as he went from 5 classes to 4 a term... all his marks went up.

Full time school is called full time for a reason. If you are going to work on top of it (full time?) I dont know how you have time to eat or sleep.

If you need things like a social life and enough hours working at a job, than maybe you should think about cutting down your work load?

Dont be pressured to finish school so soon. Ill be lucky if I have my degree by time I'm 30.
