AAA beef

so the Safeway on Davie now has a AAA meat counter and I got to say, DAMMM that's a good steak. the strip loins were on sale for $8 a pound yesterday. take a 1 pound strip loin for 8 minutes on each side at high heat on your BBQ and you have a perfect medium rare steak. I'm to cheap to eat at Mortons but it was seriously better than recent steaks at the Keg or the Boathouse. oh and get some steak spice rubbed in and let it sit for an hour or so before cooking.

Butcher shop or bust! I find the smaller, family owned type butcher shops have the best stuff. I get the 'Fill your Freezer' packages all the time with NY strips, ribeyes etc...

THEN IT'S GRILL TIME!

I'd usually agree with this statement but seriously AAA is usually really expensive and it wasn't here. ask your butcher how much they charge for AAA, you'll likely be shocked.

I don't know what a strip loin is, but i usually pay $20/lb for AAA rib-eye at my butcher....either way that's a good price.

And I agree, I have always had better steak dinners at home than at The Keg.

a strip loin is a new york steak and is comparable to a rib eye. I often prefer rib eye though because it has more fat and tends to be more tender and flavorful.
