santa claus
how old were you when you stopped believing in santa and why?
i was in grade 7 i think. my friends kept telling me that he didnt exist, but i didnt believe them. of course, what my mother said was gospel, and she kept telling me he did. when i finally did realise, it was a sad and embarassing day. :( but to me, still, he will always be real. ps - i totally watch the weathernetwork on christmas eve to find out where he is. |

i forget when i truly stopped believing, because i kept saying i believed to milk double the presents. true story. i think it was in the sixth grade when we got a dog and the expenses were a little much that my parents had to tell me santa didn't exist, and i was all "oh, i know". They were kinda pissed.

I, like Avana, was quite old when I found out Santa wasn't real. I had my suspicions, but my mother said as long as I believe he would keep bringing presents. Finally my friend and I both cornered our mother's separately and begged them to tell us the truth. They had previously been conspiring together about how long to keep the charade going. I managed to get it out of my mother. "You see honey, it's something that families like to believe to make Christmas more magical. It's kinda of like the Tooth Faery and The Easter Bunny." And in that moment, my entire naive childhood crumbled. She killed all three myths in one swift blow. Ouch.
Ps: I still get presents from Santa. |
