When you go clubbing, do you pay to get in right away or wait in line?
Regardless of if you think you're too cool to wait in lineups or not, do you have the patience to wait 30 minutes in a lineup to get into a club, or will you throw the bouncer 20 bucks to get in right away?

I don't often go to clubs where there are long lineups or where I can't just get around the line by saying hey to the staff...but I would generally wait. If the lineup was 30 minutes I may start to talk about finding somewhere else to go, but I have never paid to get past the line. My ex would always always pass the bouncer cash, even if there were only 2 people in front of us in line. He was against standing outside with the riffraff lol.

The problem with standing in a lineup is that you will most likely end up not moving for a long time, because all of the people infront of you will always invite their friends who show up late to just jump in the lineup with them. I think 20 bucks a person to bypass the lineup is a small expense to pay to have more time inside and since you'll end up blowing a lot lot lot more money on drinks and other shit.
(unless you are a hot ass slut with your titties hanging out everywhere and lots of junk in your trunk..) |

ticketed events? I find they move pretty quickly since they're not trying to use the line to give the illusion of a packed yet really empty club. If it was more than 10 minutes, it was justified as the line kept moving without any stalls. I guess the 10 minute comment I made moreso applies to those lines that won't move for the sake of not moving.

I always pay unless their are only a few people in the line. The way I look at it is paying off the bouncer 20/head or less(Usually the bouncers are easilypersuaded to give deals, like guys pay 20 girls get in free, 4 for 60 etc etc) is pretty much the smallest expense of the night. Generally cover isnearly as much, then drinks etc etc, cab ride or limo ride to and from down town... expensive. When I go out(rare nowadays) I'd prefer paying an extra 15-20 bucks to get my night started right away, then be miserable and impatient waiting to have fun on the street.

yeah, which is totally understandable. it also means you'll slowly keep moving - I've never come across a coat check issue which delays the line by 10 minutes, although I'm sure they've happened. :)
