Teens charged after allegedly microwaving cat

EDMONTON - A group of teenagers has been charged with animal cruelty and other offences after allegedly breaking into a Camrose home and using the microwave to kill the family's cat. "I've been a police officer here for 25 years and I have never run across this kind of a situation," said Insp. Lee Foreman of the Camrose Police Service. "I'm sure you share the same disgust as I do." Police believe the house was broken into during the early hours of Dec. 29, when a group of suspects stole several items and committed vandalism to the interior. No one was home at the time as the residents were away for a post-Christmas holiday. The home was re-entered on Dec. 30, when more damage was caused. Police believe this is when the suspects put the family cat in the microwave and turned it on. "We sent the cat to be autopsied, so that has yet to be confirmed, but that is what we surmise," Foreman said. A friend of the family who was checking the home discovered the dead cat inside the microwave later on Dec. 30. After an investigation, Camrose police arrested three 15-year-old boys as well as a 13-year-old boy, Foreman said. The teens are facing charges of unlawfully killing an animal; unlawfully causing pain or suffering to an animal; break, enter and theft; mischief; and possession of stolen property. They are scheduled to appear in youth court in Camrose on Feb. 7 at 9:30 a.m. Teens charged after allegedly microwaving cat

Wow. What the fuck is wrong with some people?? I did stupid shit when i was a kid, but i never did something that stupid or imoral. Like there has to be something messed up in there up bringing or something. My parents taught me morality and treatment of animals ect, and people. I dont know how these little kids can go around killing animals, stabbing other little kids... vandalising homes for no reason.... its mad fucked up.

Suspected cat-killers fear they'll be beaten up at school CanWest News Service Published: Wednesday, January 09, 2008 CAMROSE, Alta. -- Several teens accused of killing a cat in a microwave are facing threats of violence at their high school. "That's why they didn't show up today," Nick Svihura, 16, said yesterday, referring to the four boys charged with animal cruelty. "Oh yeah, they're going to get beat up for sure," said his friend Nick Deblois, 15, another student in Camrose, about 100 kilometres southeast of Edmonton. One 13-year-old and three 15-year-olds were charged after a house was broken into twice over Christmas. During the second break-in, the family cat was killed in the microwave. The boys' names were posted on the Facebook website, along with threats. Students said two of the boys attend Camrose Composite High School, where teachers increased hallway patrols "just to ensure that things stay calm," said Diane Hutchinson, spokeswoman for the Battle Creek school division. Outside the school, some parents waited to pick up their teens. Some teachers told their students not to talk about the boys. But at least one teacher hosted a discussion in class. "I think those kids should rot in jail, honestly," said Kelsey Boisvert, 16. "We talked about that in social. They're going to grow up to be serial killers." Three of the suspects are back with their parents while one is still in police custody.
