a lot of 'good' hi def content are .mkv files so good luck finding decent hi def content with the xvid codec.
edit i suppose you could download HR content or standard LR HDTV rips but they aren't true 'HD', they've just been ripped from a HD source. |

the xvid codec works wonder if the resolution is small hence why the codec is very popular. you get half decent quality rips with a low bitrate.
encoding a HDRip to xvid would kind of be pointless even thought it sounds like it'd be sweet. if you want true quality rips id suggest downloading a x264 release. they handle larger resolutions much better then xvid does. |

I dunno. Most scene releases you're looking at people putting them so they can fit on 1 or 2 CDs, you're NEVER going to get hd-level quality at that rate. |

If you want hd-level quality download a x264 hd-dvd release or a wmv blu-ray release. The resolution will be hd and the quality will be hd as well. Don't ponder why rippers dont rip hd movies to xvid because if you want hd then you shouldn't be looking at xvid as they don't go together. |
