Sarah Silverman's self-depreciating, wo-man-child character with emphasis on her Jewishness has already been done, and done with far more talent, albeit as a man, by Woody Allan. Her TV show is only tolerable for the odd moment of genius that pops up, very few of which relate to Sarah's character traits (for example, when the two stoners over smoke).
I very, very, very much doubt I could stand her in person. |

yet everyone rants about how funny she is. watching her show is like buying a used car thinking it was an 08 model. |

Honestly she's hit-and-miss. sometimes she delivers full-on deadpan zingers, and I'm rolling on the floor laughing. Half the time though she'll throw something out intending to be funny but it really isn't.
And this is me talking. I'll laugh at just about anything. Very unimpressed by her Aristocrats showing, and her show bores me on the most part. Honestly, the "getting its footing" argument loses if she's already into her second season. First season is your real chance to iron out the kinks. If you haven't got into the swing of it by season 2 then you're doomed. For some real funny Silverman work, check out her on any of the roasts she's done or Greg The Bunny. |
