by that I mean do you do a lot of strange rituals, initiations and learn terminology that only serve to obfuscate information, and mystify the actual purpose of the organization?

Exhibit B: flipping through my organizational behaviour textbook, there was a concept highlighted called "collateral interception". It means to fucken stand in front of one your team mates when they do a presentation. blocking as it were.
