Well, that's subjective. MMORPGs allow you to interact with real people in real time.. it's just more detached. It's no different than a telephone or MSN. Also, programs such as Ventrilo and TeamSpeak allow you to converse vocally in a sort of 'conference call' online. The physical presence, however, is lacking.

Either way, some people fall victim to it, some people keep a grip on it, and others just have nothing to do with it. No criticism from me on any account.

I could never get into that team speak.. just seemed a bit weird. Although listening to some guy get yelled at by his wife to come have dinner was always good comic relief

Yeah.. I rarely bother using it with people I don't know unless it's just too inconvenient to type whilst playing. It's nice when I'm in camp working and it costs $3/minute to phone anyone... so I throw on a headset and can talk to somebody despite my isolation.

You do not even need to really use a headset. I know in some games you can just turn on the team speak option and listen to everyone else chat.
