Paintball!
Just ordered the Tippmann A5 Electronic for the up coming season. Not as fast or light as a full pneumatic marker but it will do me just fine. I've heard some really positive reviews about it's accuracy (especially with a Flatline barrel) and reliability. The cost was well under $500 for both the barrel and the marker so I can't complain at all.
Anyone have any experience with this marker? If not let's hear what you got. |

I haven't played in years, but Tippmann's flatline system was always top notch, though it had a nasty habit of developing a sharp hook at about 70 yards over time. When the A-5 was released, I remember wondering how long it would take until the auto-feed's gears slipped just enough to stop chopping rounds.

Do you think that it would still be worth it to get an electric hopper even with the cyclone system or is that even possible? |

Electric hoppers don't force the balls through the feed. They just keep them moving so rounds can feed faster than gravity-fed hoppers. It shouldn't be an issue whatsoever.. actually, it'll probably make things more streamline.
Doesn't the A-5 come with an electric hopper? |

It said in the invoice that it comes with a 200 round hopper. It said nothing about it being electric. I don't think it would come with an electric one for free, do you? |

i try and make it out to the field at least twice a month, plus all the big games. my main marker is an icd lasoya promaster with halob ripdrive on top and a 68/45 hpa tank on a remote line. i also use the 68/45 on my tippmann 98 custom response trigger with 14" j&j ceramic barrel, saw stock and red dot sight. you'll usually find me on the woodsball field but if any of my friends need an extra for their speedball team practice i can hold my own. never competed in a speedball tourney but i wouldnt hesitate if i was offered. |

wdp makes some high-end tourney level markers, quite a few of the worlds best speedballers use them. the angel A1 is no exception. another nice marker from wdp is the angel g7... afaik it's still the fastest marker out there shooting ~30bps if your loader can keep up.

Take care of them and they're mint. If you don't maintain them well, then they go to hell. I've always been a fan of the simple, mechanical markers... I used to run an average Spyder and just changed what I didn't like about it.
All digital did for me was add too many variables that I didn't need. |

yea when you buy a higher-end marker the maintenance goes through the roof. i have to take my promaster apart piece by piece and clean it after every day of woodsball. my tippman just gets wiped down at the end of the day. shooting 25+bps feels really nice and makes it worthwhile though. when you can lay down 2 or 3 times more paint than anyone else on the field you have a distinct advantage in tactics. people are less likely to come out of cover if they know there's a stream of paint coming at them, and with high rates of fire it's easier to provide cover and let your team move up. i would rather get in a battle with a 1-pull 1-shot player than someone walking the trigger at me. the only real downside is the cost of paint at the field.. playing outlaw is fine because a $60 case of paint lasts all day, but that same case costs $160 on-field.
4x140 count pods+remote line=one handed reloading and nearly unlimited firepower in a battle PROMASTER (not my vid) Last edited by meth0dical; Mar 06, 08 at 04:11 PM. |

I rock the pump. Those Sniper 2's they rigged up by replacing the pneumatics on the Shockers with a pump system were deadly. Best games of my life.
I think it still comes down to the player. You can have the bps advantage but in the end, spray-and-praying doesn't solve everything. |

FUCK! I'm stoked I decided to order it with the E-Grip.
The only thing I am concerned about is with the E-Grip and Flatline (even with the Flatline alone) the percentage of chopped paint goes sky high if you're using a lower quality ball. There are a few mods you can try to help with chopping but I think I better stock up on some quality paint. I don't think you can use your own paint either at the fields around here. |

I have an A5. You say you're getting an ELECTRONIC A5? Do you mean you are getting one with the response trigger? I have it bare bone stock, and it shoots ropes like any other, at long distances. there is no reason to get an electronic hopper because the vortex feed is specific to the gun, and would eliminate one of the major reasons for getting the gun in the first place. The major reason for the balls curving is from running co2 through it, use Air with a remote coil and it will shoot straight and fast.
