Don't eat at McDonald's on South West Marine Drive in Vancouver.
Listen. I love McDonald's, both for their food and for what they stand for philosophically. I thought that Super Size Me was a piece of anti-capitalist, anti-beef propaganda. But when you're in Vancouver, skip the McDonald's on Marine Drive. That's because the British Columbia Human Rights Tribunal has ruled that one of the employees there has a human right not to wash her hands when working in their kitchen. Beena Datt claimed that she developed a "skin condition" that meant she couldn't wash her hands in compliance with McDonald's hygiene policy. That's the same hygiene policy that makes McDonald's like an embassy to Canadians travelling overseas -- when you're in a Third World country, and tired of eating in hygiene-challenged local restaurants, you can count on a western standard of cleanliness and quality at McDonald's. In B.C., McDonald's hygiene policy isn't just a matter of corporate pride. It's a matter of the law -- both the Health Act and the Food Premises Regulations. And then there's B.C.'s Food Protection Guidelines issued by the B.C. Centre for Disease Control. McDonald's subscribes to all of them. Hell, they probably helped write them. McDonald's is fanatical about hand-washing, to their credit. They have hand-washing rules. Not just the obvious "wash your hands after the bathroom" rules. But other rules, like wash your hands after shaking someone's hand. Wash your hands after retrieving food from the freezer. Wash your hands after touching a door handle. They even have a chime that goes off every hour. It's a "we're all going to wash our hands now" chime. Seriously -- see paragraph 23 of the ruling. The human right for McDonald's employees not to wash their hands - Ezra Levant |

super size me was anti capitalist anti beef propaganda?? hahaha what the fuck.. more like some guy trying to tell everyone how insanely unhealthy it is.
what do they stand for philosophically anyway ?! how to pump out salty cardboard that barely contains any real food while paying everybody slave labor to run it ? hmm sounds like great philosophy to me. if you knew the standard to which all that crap is processed before being shipped to each McD's, some girl not washing her hands should be the least of your worries. |

Rest assured though people every other mcdix worldwide has the utmost care and respect for your health.
Not one mcdix employee has or will ever scratch his or her genitalia in a manner bordering on masterbation, nor will they ever pick their nasal cavity clean whilst assembling your dead flesh. Sleep easy knowing your mcnuggets of beakless mutilated sexually abused aborted chicken foetus will be piping hot and pubic hair free every morning awaiting your consumption for future heart attacks. |

All of you respondent's are missing the point. Regardless of your like or dislike for McDonald's(I personally detest McD's on the basis the food is simply not nutritional, and contains too many fats and calories(also salt)) the issue is the grossly incompetent and bordering on insane conduct of all the human rights commission's in Canada. Ezra Levant is pretty much an expert on the subject, and his personal feelings towards McDonald's should not be an issue. HRC's in Canada have made ruling after ruling endangering both the public's safety towards contamination(article above) and also our society's right to 'free speech'. I believe it was the Ontario HRC who tapped in to a resident nearby their office's wireless internet(unbeknown to said resident) in order to post on a white supremacist message board, attempting to spark racist debate(entrapment). When the case came to the tribunal, aforementioned resident's name became public(and thus a negative association towards white supremacist organizations) through no knowledge of doing of her own. Entrapment was ignored, and even when one of the HRC officer's was questioned on what he thought the importance of free speech was, he replied 'seeing as free speech is an american idea, I hold no importance to it'. I guess he's never read the Canadian constitution.
The cases are endless, and all mind blowing. |

I have eczema and over-washing makes my hands crack and bleed. If I had to wash my hands as much as McD's employees supposedly do you'd have bloody, flaky skin in your burgers. Ick.
I agree with decypher. They should wear gloves! |

honestly, you should move to the states because your combination of ignorance and unwarrented moral outrage means youd fit in well. |

The person should've been screened out through the interview process when they checked the box that says "do you have a disease or condition wich prohibits the use of handling or preperation of food. If they contracted it after, big ups for standing up for their rights.
At least they weren't jerking off in the pickle jar. |
