Couchsurfing
Any couchsurfers on here?
CouchSurfing and CouchSurfing and CouchSurfing I know it's old but I surfed a couch in London 3 weeks ago and it was great... Love the idea behind the site. Soon I'll start hosting myself! <3 Last edited by anewlife; May 04, 08 at 11:48 PM. |

Yeah I housed a few surfers in Vancouver, all turned out to be rocking people! I have yet to request a surf on someone else couch, but I know when the times comes I will be openly welcome. On another note a close friend of mine 'house swapped' for a period of time last summer to visit Montreal. Again he said it was a safe and very respected exchange. He would do it again.

Yeh people traveling or who have traveled are always down to help you out, it's great. Some of the best conversations and experiences come from this sort of thing. I've actually seen this site before and I'll probably give it a whirl before i goto grad school.

What do you mean which site? :| couchsurfing.com of course.
There are a few others, but CS (500000+ members) is the biggest... https://www.bewelcome.org/ Free Accommodation world wide through Hospitality Exchange - Hospitality Club GlobalFreeloaders.com / The Worldwide Free Accommodation Network I attended 6 CS meetings since I'm back from London and met people from Brazil, Mexico, Ecuador, USA, Finland and South Korea...it's amazing. Plus, one of my friends has been travelling in Chile and South America for 1 month and only payed for 3 nights in a youth hostel...for the rest of the trip he surfed some CS couches for free. Wow! It's a neat idea.
My only experience was when my roomate had someone from couchsurfing to stay from the UK and didn't bother to be a host and left them alone with me so I had to supervise them in my house. So I'm a little bitter about that, but the concept is sound. Definitely not for me though. I like my apartment without strangers sleeping in it, as nice as they may be. |
