using a computer Monitor as a TV to play PS3

looking for a way to convert RCA outputs to hook into one of my space LCD computer monitors.

the reason is to play my ps2/ps3 games on my desk. but dont want to hog the TV with my cop killing

is it this simple?

try to find yourself a vga connection, like rgb to vga.

or get a vid card with an hdmi output.
suggestion on the latter for for dig aud and vid.


If you're using CRT, I would stick with the TV.

you're not gaining HD capabilities on the PS3 side of things.

the cable he pointed out, will not put out HD on the ps3 side of things. It will do 480i by default and pointless.

no need for a new video card, im not too anal about not getting HD on my 21 inch LCD. i just want to play the game and have (pretty much) another computer on my desk for GTA4/movies/all that jazz. I have an extra just sitting around and i want to put it to use.

main question. How would i convert RCA to VGA?

Ive been reading and it wont work as its a different signal all together, I got to look for a converter. Its not that easy apparently.

So you wouldnt be hearing the audio.

you need something to carry over audio. vga wont have seperate inputs for audio.
if your monitor has RCA, just use the RCA cables that came with the ps3 and presto you're good to go.
If your monitor only has VGA, vga doesnt carry sound.. you're screwed.
