RCMP Officer accused in fatal crash also involved in death of Robert Dziekanski at YVR

Local News Story

The RCMP officer facing charges in a fatal crash in Delta was one of the Mounties involved in the death of Polish immigrant Robert Dziekanski a year ago.
The officer's name has not been released and he has not been charged in either the accident or the Dziekanski case, in which the Polish man was jolted with a Taser at Vancouver International Airport.
However, it's expected he will be charged with impaired driving in Saturday night's accident in which a Jeep struck and killed 21-year-old motorcyclist Orion Hutchinson.
Police say the driver of the Jeep failed a breathalyzer test and faces at least two charges, but it's expected he won't be formally charged until his first court appearance in January.
The officer is with the Olympic Integrated Security Unit but was off-duty at the time of the crash.
R-C-M-P Sergeant Tim Shields says the officer has been suspended with pay, and in addition to the criminal investigation by Delta police, the Mounties are conducting their own internal code of conduct investigation.

i read today that he left the scene of the crime and had his two kids in the jeep with him. He got out and was scene running down the road with a kid under each arm. How is there not more outrage and more charges?

um how about an accident causing potential death? is getting to your boyfriends house more important than pulling over for an ambulance rushing to an accident?

dude dont make it sounds liek the police never use their sirens just to get through a red light. i see it all the time. cop driving down the road, light turns yellow, sirens go on and he bolts the red, sirens off, resume 50km, pull into krispy kreme. ive fucking seen it so many times its not funny. im not gonna bitch and moan about it though because as polce, we submit these right and powers to them because we know they need them to do their job properly (usually).

Yeah, except he wasn't talking about flashing lights when the intersection was dead, he was talking about barreling down the wrong side of the street during rush hour. I don't think that they'd be doing that in a non-emergency

it happens to many many people that fall into govermnet roles when there is a strong sense of accomplishment and paying back to the community. this is huge in the military as well. they come back having done so much that they feel a tier above everyone else. i dont think they are and obv. neither do you, but they have still assumed occupations that are vital to running the community. whereas many peoples jobs could disapear and nobody would ever know.
